"Hey! Minnie!" I said again, blocking her gaze. She jumped back as though I had popped out of nowhere.

"Yeah, what-you? Yes?" she stammered out.

I brought my chin in closer to my chest against the cool breeze. Glancing back the where the sign had been I looked back to Minnie.

"What were you looking at?"

Her eyes started clouding up as she stared back to the vacant spot. Her head began to tilt slowly before she snapped back to look at me. There was a glimmer of something in her eyes before she shrugged it away.

"Deja vu?"

I frowned before turning back on my way home, Minnie following me more closely this time.

The sun was low in the sky when we finally arrived. What was I going to do? As far as anyone in the family knew Minnie was a stranger and there was no way she would be able to stay even if I told them the whole story. Scrunching my face up I squeezed my eyes shut. She could stay in my room, but what if she had to use the bathroom or something. No, I would need a better place for her to hide out during the day. For now, I just have to sneak her in.

I took note of the missing car. There were fewer people home than normal.

"When we get inside you're going to have to be quiet. Trust me." Minnie looked at me for a moment, she looked like she was holding her breath with an eerily relaxed expression. She finally nodded.

"I'm home," I yelled as I closed the front door behind us. I used my eyes to single Minnie up the stairs, she took the hint and swiftly scaled the stairs. Kicking my boots off I followed after her.

"I'm going to go get changed. Be down in a minute."

Minnie was standing awkwardly in the hallway, walking past her I opened a door. There was a tension in the air as I closed the door behind me which disappeared the second I clicked the lock. Minnie fell onto the only bed in the room and let out a long breath.  "Mine."

Swing open my closet door I pulled a comforter onto the hardwood floor. Shoving Minnie off my bed, I took my rightful spot. "You're sleeping over there," I said with an unintentional smile on my face.

Ah, sweet vengeance...

"Come out," Soul's voice came smoothly, the words costing him nothing. A figure stood in the doorway, the torch gone. Like statues, they stood in a silent argument over whether they were living creatures or not.

"Who are you here for?"

Soul had lost the argument.

The boy's expression was tired and worn as the figure stepped forward into the room holding his silence.

With every step he took closer there was a heaviness added to it. He had missed a golden opportunity twice and felt there was no reason to miss another.

Soul realized what was happening but made no move to indicate let alone stop it.

The figure's hand enclosed the canine-like blades handle.
