Before Minnie could answer Marc suddenly appeared beside us, we hadn't noticed him walking down the passage. He tossed Minnie a kerchief, "We're evacuating. Roe's orders." Minnie stood up, an offended and guilty expression overcast her face. "But, I set the barrier. Shouldn't we just wait this out?" Minnie asked standing up, I followed suit. Marc's eyes look tired as he explained, despite obviously not wanting to, "This place is safe for now, but the main base isn't..." then added patronizingly, "remember?" Minnie scrunched her face up, I could tell she was holding herself back from unloading a lot of pain on him. "So we're heading back to the main base?" I asked, legitimately fearing the angry in Minnie's dark green eyes. Marc turned to me, "Put yours on too," he nodded at the clothes lying on the ground and turned to leave, and answered my question with a simple "Let's go."
Before leaving I finally remembered what I had been planning to do since this whole mad goose chase began. I tore two slits in the outer skirt of the soft pink dress that I still couldn't believe I was wearing since it completely offset my tan skin. Completing it in two quick movements I hurried after Marc and Minnie who had almost completely disappeared into the smoke. Following after them my hair slowly became undone and was now hitting my back every time I made a substantial jump. Finally catching up with them, I began to notice small landmarks Marc and I had passed before. Eventually, we got to a point where I knew the rest of the way and some of the smoke had cleared. Suddenly I stopped as the strange feeling came over me as the familiar soft blue glow began to grow around me. The wind and a howl in the distance, followed by a strange eerie sound. For some reason, I knew what it was. One of the wolves had just slaughtered a spirit.

Marc silently worked at the metal bar hoping to loosen the concrete it was stationed in. Crickets were chirping outside taunting him with their freedom. This only motivated him more. Suddenly and miraculously the bar broke away from its holdings and fell outside with a soft clank. It had thankfully landed in the grass. Marc froze, listening carefully before crawling through the window. He jumped down the six feet, tripping on his feet as he fell forward. Staying on his knees he shifted his eyes without lifting his head. Finally, he let out a breath letting his tense body relax. Shifting his weight he brought his foot forward. Suddenly the air was knocked out of him and his feet barely on the ground. "Look what the cat dragged in." Blood rushed to Marc's face at the sound of his brother's voice. "LET GO!" He yelled with the last of his breath. His brother dropped him, spun him around and kicked him in the back propelling him forward. "Happy?" the tall figure asked tilting his head with a sickeningly charming look on his face. "Yeah thanks, I'll be going then," Marc spoke harshly, picking himself up, his elbows scraped and bleeding.
'I'm not afraid of him, just annoyed. I'm not afraid, I just hate him.'
Marc repeated in his head as he walked away not wanting to run and show fear. Little did he know he had taken the joy out of the chase, which had only made the crown prince more eager to kill him.
