Strawberries

I sat up on the cot. My legs crisscross, which, I will not lie, was quite difficult to get into with my injury. I waited. As the voices got louder I began to pretend to know what they were saying, going as far as creating voices for each of the two individuals.

"You know I don't like strawberries, Wally!" A gruff voice came harshly.

"Yes, yes, I know. That's why I put them in your trousers..." A respectable sort of voice came with an air of calm.

"Do my feelings or likes and dislikes mean nothing to you, Fred?" Apparently the gruff voice had decided to calm down, but with it changed Wally to Fred.

"You know I don't mean that, but sometimes you have to learn to tough it out." Wally (or Fred) answered back in a low solemn tone.

I was only beginning to have fun when they both entered the tent, ruining it all. I smiled dumbly at them. I could only really see their features by the shadows of a lantern one of them held. Fred (I think) was a new person, but the other was Daggers. I had guessed as much. Fred was taller than Daggers but I knew who would win in a fight if you know what I mean. Perhaps not even noticing I was awake (and smiling) they automatically walked over to where I was.

"Ah the midget!" (I had not stopped translating the strange language to even stranger meanings) I could see Fred's eyes grow a bit as he held the lantern in front of me. He murmured something under his breath as he looked closely at my face, "Hakuna Matata".

I couldn't help it anymore. I burst out laughing and crying hunching over trying to stop. This was serious, I didn't know these people and I could die. I just couldn't stop laughing. Fred's look of horror didn't help. He looked back to daggers, with a strange sort of fear in his eyes. That seemed to do the trick. I calmed down, swallowed, and stared up at Daggers.

"Hi" I said, before wanting to hit myself on the head for forgetting they couldn't understand me. I grinned, pretty sure I was going to die. Daggers honestly looked as though he couldn't give a crap, which made it seem less likely that he was to kill me.

"Don't forget the strawberries." Dagger mumbled at Fred, turning to leave.

Fred looked after him, but remained facing me. He seemed to mumble something back at Daggers like a child getting in the last words.

"Oh I will."
