Mage took a step back from Soul, easing his grip on the handle.

"Then you know why I came."

Soul looked up at the gruff boy with a look of pity on his face.

"And you think that will change anything?"

His words came calmly with a sad smile.

Mage let out a frustrated laugh. He looked down at Soul, who was still sweating and panting softly. Curling his lips into an unsettling smirk, Mage's eyes danced with amusement.

"You wanted this, didn't you?"

Soul's face instantly dropped, he blinked staring at the floor. Laughing, Mage realized he had struck a cord.

"But it's doesn't want you."

Soul's eyes twitched as a pained expression spread over his face. Squatting in front of him, Mage continued.

"Ah, sorry." He spoke with no sincerity, "I forgot how a mortal becomes an accursed forcibly." Soul finally looked up and stared Mage dead in the eye.

"Shut up."

There was a pause of silence. The power behind the voice had taken Mage off guard. It lacked all the emotions he had expected of Soul. Standing up he started backing away to the exit.

"Whatever it was, it doesn't change the fact that you killed someone."

It felt strange to be back in my bed after only a couple days of being away. Rolling off the bed I saw the mess of blankets where Minnie was sleeping. Crap, it wasn't a dream. Checking the time on my phone I quickly threw a sweatshirt on and made my way to the kitchen.

"ok, I'm going to say this one more time! Where. Is. The. FOOOOOOOOOOD???"

I froze. Silence.

"Hey! Don't act like you can't see me! Get back here!"

Minnie was giving Cyrus the death glare as she towered over him trying to look aggressive. But Cyrus was kneeling in front of the tv set fiddling with something.

"What are you doing?" I hissed at Minnie, to which Cyrus responded with "I wanna watch a movie."

Glancing from one to the other I frowned. "Oh ok, uh go ahead," I said hesitantly. Look away, that's right. Pay no heed to me, please.

"See! He's been like this all morning!" Minnie pouted, "I hate your son."

I nearly choked on air, "My WHAT?!"

Minnie jumped back, "he's not your kid?" she mouthed. The realization of the mistake she made started taking over her face. Cyrus, of course, jumped as well. And with that jumped he jumped to conclusions. "I didn't say anything. Mom said I could watch TV! I didn't do anything!" He rapid fired.

"Sorry Cy I was talking to my imaginary friend, just go watch your shows while I talk to her upstairs."

Minnie looked offended but she followed after me.

Why can't he see her?

There was a strange sense of relief at this new found discovery but along came a feeling of dread.
