Attention Span of a Walnut

Before I knew it the path became steeper and steeper. After pulling myself over a particularly steep cliff, I notice that Minnie had stopped in front of some rocks that were crammed in the small clearing. Panting a bit I got to my feet resting my hands on my knees. "Where did he go?" I looked around, wiping sweat from my forehead with the shear sleeve of the dress. After a few seconds of silence, I looked back where  Minnie had been. She was gone. Without a sound. Eyeing my surroundings nervously, I stepped carefully to where she had been. "Of course they disappear," I said under my breath, annoyed. With my back towards the rocks, I scanned the way we had traveled. The kingdom was no longer in sight, but I knew it wasn't too far off. A shadow cast over the forest as a cloud blocked off the sun. It would set soon. A gust of wind seemed to take advantage of the darkness whipping through the trees. Coming towards me. Stepping back automatically something closed tightly around my wrist. Before I could let out a startled yelp I was pulled through some overhanging vines and greenery and into what  I had thought to be a rock just moments ago. A voice in front of my shushed me, pulling me along behind them. My eyes weren't used to the sudden darkness so I couldn't tell who it was, so I just followed waiting for my eyes to adjust. We moved in silence most of the way. I could hear soft echoes as though the space was larger than the darkness allowed to be shown. I could hear water running to my right, but kept pace with the force pulling me. My eyes soon could recognize the person to be either Minnie or that guy since they were wearing the same clothes. Distracted for a moment I rammed my foot into a rock and began to fall. The hand around my wrist merely yanked me back up before I hit the ground. "Now I have to tell you to watch where you're going?"

I knew who it was. "If I could actually see maybe I would!" I hissed back, recollecting myself from the trip. Not missing a second he began to lead me through the darkness again. I could tell he was going faster on purpose. I curled my upper lip, making a face. Finally light filtered through the dark passage as we entered a room. It had been hollowed out from the rock and was covered with richly colored rugs and tapestries, and where there weren't tapestries you could see drawing directly on the wall. Minnie was off to a corner speaking with an elder of sorts, they had gray hair. Noticing us coming in she looked up said something to the gray-haired fellow and walked over to us. "Sorry, I thought you saw me go in." She said apologetically with her hand to the back of her neck. I merely nodded saying "yeah." I was distracted by something. Glistening in the corner Minnie had just been. I took a step almost in a trance before tripping up falling to the ground as a shot of pain came from my left ankle. Snapping out of it due to the pain. I sighed rolling my eyes. "Of course I sprained it."
