The First Sign

A ringing echoed in the silence. The two girls had vanished along with the blue light. As the ringing finally faded a torch had entered the room. Unphased with finding no one, the figure replaced the knife with a carved handle. Releasing it from his grip the canine-like wooden figure shown briefly in the torchlight as the boy turned to leave.

"It wouldn't be that easy." He repeated to himself in a whisper.

A movement had interrupted him. A light in the shadows, swift and steady yet seemed to struggle. It had taken no notice of him. Swallowing, he let out a soft sigh of pity. Pity for the past, the present and what was to be the future if he didn't complete his task.

To kill the Wolf-Slayer.

Minnie, either a genuinely distractive person or just overwhelmed with her new surroundings quickly left the idea of getting a car and started staring intently at me.

"You look... weird." She said finally,

"Thanks, honesty is appreciated." I stared back at Minnie, still in her sleep clothes which consisted of baggy pants and a weird looking shirt. I glanced around, people were probably staring at us.

"Follow me," I said turning on my heels and leading the way between the back shed and recyclable bins. Minnie followed but briefly said under her breath, "am I a dog or something..?"

"Aren't you cold?" I asked facing her. She looked back confused.

"Why would I be cold?" She sounded offended. There was a soft breeze in the cold air that made me shiver despite the jacket I was wearing.

"It's the end of September," I said defensively as Minnie stared at me shivering.

"And?" I could tell this was going nowhere anytime soon.

"Nevermind. Let's just get back to my house. Maybe we can figure this whole thing out." I said hopefully but knew the likelihood of doing all that was slim.

Soul sat against a pile of pillows that were neatly stacked. Leaning back a small bead of sweat ran down from his forehead. Every second his breathing became more and more stable. He wrapped his left arm around his side tightly before falling back further into his tower of cushions.

A small smile creased on his lips as he held something up in his right hand. Twirling it between his thumb and forefinger, he stared at the silver band. His smile took on a bittersweet expression as he stopped and held the ring steady, allowing the torchlight around him to shine through a small cavity in the silver.

"To think I had to come to you for help again." His voice sounded nostalgic as he stared at the ring like an old man realizing his friends were gone, something a seventeen-year-old should never look.

"Thank you."

"Are we there yet?" Minnie asked for the hundredth time.

"Yes, I live right over there," I said pointing to a nearby sewer drain.

Minnie perked up at this before her face fell, "I hate you."

"Yeah, me too," I answered absentmindedly.

My house was less than a 10-minute walk from the restaurant so if not for Minnie's constant questions, stopping, and laughing at what people were wearing we would have been back 20 minutes ago!

Finally crossing the last street we came to the apartments. Now we would be back home in 2 minutes tops. As I marched on, focused on getting home to a nice warm meal and my bed, (Which I had grown to miss terribly), I hadn't noticed that Minnie had stopped again until I was at the end of the apartment complex. Stopping and turning around to see her, I tried motioning for her to hurry up.

"Yo Minnie. Lego. Please." I said bundling my jacket closer around me.

I followed her gaze to an empty spot by the construction site. It felt awkward before I remembered what was missing.

The bowling sign.

A/N

Alright, so as you can see I wrote last night but not the night before. (hehehe I got lazy and masked it as revenge)

I finally got accepted to that school in France so when school starts this year until I'm like 20 I don't think I'll have time to write, BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUt this story should be done before then and I can spend my extra time editing it and stuff.

Thanks for sticking around, the next chapter will be a character profile page. (Which I should have done a long time ago but honestly had no idea what I was doing)

See ya Peeps! (maybe I'll post it tonight!)
