I spun 'round, wide-eyed as the shadowy figured lunged at me. I could feel my stomach jump to my mouth as I froze in horror. In an instant, I heard a yelp as Marc leaped out of nowhere kicking the beast out of the way. It landed on its feet and growled loudly, barely visible in the thick smoke. "I thought you were the wolf-slayer..." He growled, mimicking the annoyance present in the wolf. With my blood rushing and my head pounding I swung my arms around. "IT CAME OUT OF NOWHERE!!!" I yelled in a whisper, overwhelmed with frustration. "Yeah whatever," He said before lashing out at the creature as it did the same. As he did I realized it wasn't a wolf but a giant snake-like thing. Gliding the sword out of the sheath, he slashed through its body causing it to burst into dust and vanished. "What did you... do?" My eyes grew wider causing the smoke to irritate them. He slid the sword back, "I didn't do anything." "Yeah, sure." I blurt out sarcastically. "Let's go before more come, Wolf-slayer." He said mockingly as he turned and bolted. I bolted after him, too angry for words and apparently too distracted to realize we were being indirectly followed.
Suddenly I lost him again. The smoke had gotten even thicker, so much so that I had almost altogether given up on my sense of sight. Having a strange sense of my surroundings I continued after what I thought was Marc just up ahead. Knowing there was a surfaced root up ahead I prepared to jump over it but the second my foot left the ground I realized I had made a mistake. Something had grabbed ahold of my ankle and was pulling me down. I tripped up, leaning on the nearby tree for support as I was swiftly pulled down deeper than where I had thought the ground to be. Before I could let out a scream something covered my mouth. I bit whatever it was and hearing a yelp instantly regret it. "What is wrong with you?!" I heard an angry hiss. "Oh," I exhaled, relieved for a moment before remembering what I did. "Sorry," I whispered. He shushed me. Suddenly there was a burst of noise above us. A stampede? Hiss, growls, and roars sounded off at random. What the heck?
Minnie had taken off the moment she had realized the gravity of her mistake. She pushed through trees and shrubs before finally reaching the old hideaway. A small droplet of blood fell from a scrap on her face as she entered the temporary safety of the base. Her face was flushed as she explained to her aunty what had happened, and was shocked when the old lady merely nodded letting out a long sigh. "Oh child, what would the world be without you?" she said with an air of refined, her eyes smiling. "Better off?" Minnie answered solemnly staring at the ground ashamed. The old lady took in a quick breath before putting her hand on Minnie's shoulder. "No." She said reassuringly shaking her head, "it would be boring, now stop feeling bad and let's fix this!" Minnie felt a knot in her stomach. She knew she had done something terrible and yet she wasn't being punished, at least not directly, but being loved.
Why did it hurt..?

So this story is set in another world, right? I was wondering if there were any specific creatures (mythical or not) that you would be interested in seeing in this story. As always suggestions are welcomed!!! :D
Got an assignment due tomorrow, but that's pretty much the only stress I have going on right now. (BESIDES the SATs!! ;_; )
