Minnie froze before shuddering. "Was I that bad?" I asked quickly falling back on to pillows, thankfully. "No, no, no, sorry! I just remembered something else!" Minnie practically yelled finally turning back to me. "Oh," I said with a confused smile, Minnie picked up on the awkwardness and answered the question quickly, "Everyone was just excited talking about the possibility of the Wolf-Slayer being you. Plus I did help you escape..." The last part was added with a mix of shame in her voice, I thought I understood why. "Well thanks for that, I was able to somewhat go back home." Minnie turned in shock at the word home, "Wait, you actually have a home? But then... How could you be the wolf-slayer..." "What? hold on, could you explain this whole 'Wolf-Slayer' business to me? I'm getting annoyed at how easily it's being tossed around..." Minnie nearly toppled off her bed, but caught herself "You don't even know what it is?!" I stiffened a yell, "Didn't I just say that?!" Minnies face dropped, "right..." she whispered, scratching her temple distracted.
"So basically there are these things, right? And they just kill and destroy everything else in a sort of rage of insanity. So every once and a few hundred years, I think, their population grows exponentially. So during that time, someone who can decrease their species to the point of extinction. That's the wolf-slayer." She somewhat finished, looking back at my confused face. "Wait," I started, "So this species runs amuck and you gotta wait till the," I made air quotations, "'Chosen one' appears to save you?" I wasn't any more comfortable with this situation than I had been earlier. Minnie rolled her eyes as though she had already gone over this information, "Of course, there are a few people who can kill them off but most of the time they get cursed and die." "And I don't?" I asked trying not to get annoyed. She fell back onto her bed with a long sigh, "I'm not sure exactly." I wrinkled my forehead, "oh ok, thanks. I guess I'll just figure that out later." I tried positioning the pillows under me so I wasn't lying directly on the stone platform. Minnie laughed, "By the way, what language were you speaking that time?" "English, what were you speaking?" I asked not moving from my finally comfortable position. There was silence. "What is it?" I said, regretfully moving from my comfy position to see what was wrong. "You're speaking it right now, it's a dialect of Fraie." "Oh, is that the language of Nuwa?" I remembered back to what someone had said the other day about their sacred language or something. Minnie made a face, "They're completely different. Wait, but you can speak them, earlier you spoke with the Empress Mo. Remember?" I did remember something, but not that. The old chief who was the first person I understood in this world. "Do you guys have tribes in this world? Like Nomads? They move around a lot?" It was an unintentional change of subject.
