"Who are you?" it was a question yet it sounded like a threat. Mage shifted his footing uncomfortably as he came to a stop. "I- I'm nobody," was there a right way to answer that sort of question? He put his hand awkwardly behind his neck, glancing back the way he came.
"I was on my way home, but..." he trailed off not wanting to say he heard her crying.
"But you heard me crying." She said with such reassurance that Mage froze in shock. Letting out a sigh she tilted her head and smiled sarcastically.
"Sorry handsome, but seeing you is not making me feel any better. So if we're done here I'll be off."
Once the words left her mouth her smile dropped and, waving her hand at him lazily, turned to go.
"Wait!" He said suddenly, almost yelling. She hesitated her steps but kept going.
"You're not human, are you?"
She came to a complete stop, her fingers twitched.
"You sound surprised." she turned to face him, her ponytail swaying behind her like a body of water. Meeting Mage's confused expression, she couldn't help smiling.
"Don't tell me that was all guesswork?" She asked, but stopped, before exclaiming.

"Stupid," she said coldly after a long pause.
"What are you talking about?" Mage asked angrily, which he almost instantly regretted after seeing her face.
"Stupid! Why did you come here? Now you're just another pointless victim!" a strange sort of rage filled her voice.
A sinking feeling began to fill his chest as a howl rang clearly through the still night's air.
"Great, I'll just die a day sooner."
Mira grabbed a hold of his wrist before turning on her heels to run. But mage yanked free from her grip, "Are you crazy? What's going on?"
She faced him impatiently, "We really don't have time for this so either you follow me now or I leave you here to deal with them!" she spoke through her teeth before grabbing at his wrist one last time. Since Mage didn't pull away instantly the girl took off dragging him behind her.
The howls sounded in the air like an alarm as the dark forest flashed before his eyes. Every few seconds he could see a shadow of a tree or the exposure of a root but for the most part, he was blind, completely trusting in a girl he had only just met. As she lead he started to notice his footing. He hadn't tripped once. The strange dream-like feeling seemed to only make the world around him more surreal. A violent gust of wind suddenly poured against his back as the howls sounded louder than before. But it didn't matter.
Nothing was real anymore.
There was a warm light in the distance which they were making a beeline for. The girl's grip around Mage's wrist only seemed to tighten as they got closer, almost like a prayer.
The trees around them started shaking violently in the wind. Leaves got picked up in the wind, not even given a chance to rest on the ground. A roaring sound started to come from all sides as the wind twisted and turned, leaving them in the eye of a hurricane.
