_LILY

YOU HAD YOUR CHANCE & YOU LOST A GOOD MAN...

' Hey beautiful.'

Dominic hugged Lily from behind and softly kissing her neck while she stood in line at a fast food place. She had come out with friends to get food and she did not notice him in the shop with colleagues and was suprised when he walked up to her.

' Hey handsome, what are you doing here? Thought you were in a business meeting.'

'Mmm..yeah I did. Just got done with it. So we thought we should come get some food.'

He replied after kissing her much to the amusement of some people around them. She hid her face in his chest slightly embarrassed by their public display. He always found it cute and that's why he enjoyed kissing her like that in public.

'Who is we?'

'My friends.'

Dominic said introducing her to the two black and white males and female who stood chatting to each other while the white female watched the couple intensely making Lily uncomfortable.

'Lee, it's our turn to order'

Her colleagues called out to her when they got next in line. She told them what to order for her and tried to give them money to pay for her food but Dom beat her to it. The female friend still kept her eyes on Lily. Dominic introduced her and the two guys gave her a warm greeting while the lady starred at her.

'Excuse me Dom. Did you say she's your fiancé?'

The lady who Lily had come to know as Matilda questioned him. He replied yes and stated that he could not wait for her to take his surname before kissing her again. Matilda kept trying to get Dominic's attention but he was too occupied with her.

' what is Matilda to you?'

'Just an old friend -'

'That's not what I am asking Dom. I want to know if you two have personal history.'

'Yes we used to date before I met you but then she left saying that she was not feeling our relationship anymore and that I was too immature for her or something like that. Why do you ask?'

Lillian sighed, contemplating wether to say anything or not. She did not want to seem like a jealous fiancé.

'Just felt like she did not like me much.'

Dominic smiled at her nervousness before saying.

'Damn I thought I was the only one who felt that vibe. What was that about?'

Lillian sat up from under his armpit and looked at him with a smile, relieved.

"I think she wants you back.'

'She can't get me back.'

He pecked her on the lips before turning his attention back to the investigative show they were watching.

'I bet you twenty, the friend killed him.'

She was too involved in her own thoughts to pay attention to the television but she agreed to his bet.

'Do you feel I'm too old or black for you?'

Dominic made her stand up and sit on his lap facing him.

' Did Matilda say something to you?'

Lillian shook her head yes but kept her head down too embarrassed to look him in the eyes as she felt stupid for having these thoughts and feelings.

'See this, this shiny diamond... I knew our age differences when I put it on you. I knew what other people would think, say or try to do about us when I put it on you but I did not care and I still don't care. I love you, you're the only woman I want to be with no matter our age difference. I would have not asked you to marry me if I thought that.'
