46 - Playing in the Park

May 13th 2018

Mari and I were in Bennett park playing with Benny. I couldn't wait to show Chris, Karen and Lin my puppy. The sun was out and it was a beautiful day. We played fetch with him using his little ball and gave him a small treat whenever he brought the ball back and dropped it immediately. I was a little worried about having a dog because we didn't have a garden. I wasn't sure what we'd do with him when mom and I had rehearsals or a show and when dad was out and Mari was at school. Wednesdays were the biggest issue as we had a two show day and no one else would be home, but other than that every other day he'd only be alone for a few hours. "Benny fetch." I threw the tennis ball and he attempted to jump to catch it but it hit his head instead. He still picked it up and ran back towards us. "Benny drop." He did and I gave him a treat. "Good boy." I ruffed his fluffy hair and smiled at the tiny puppy. I threw the ball again and my phone rang. "Mari, you keep playing fetch." I called as I answered the phone. "Hey Mom."

"Hey sweetie, you and Mari need to come home now. I'm glad you've had some bonding time with Benny, but we need to get to the theatre for the show and we have to drop Mari off with Uncle Chris first."

"Alright, we'll come home in a second. Love you."

"Love you too baby girl." I hung up and smiled as I watched my sister a little longer.

"Mari, Benny. Come here boy. We need to go home now." The dog hurtled towards me with Maribelle just behind. I crouched down and he jumped up and licked my face. "Calm down Benny." I held him to the ground and stroked him. "Let's go home sis." I re-attached his lead and then we walked him home. Once our front door was shut I let him off the lead and he rushed up to my mom and jumped up to her.

"Hello Benny. I guess you had fun at the park with the girls." He barked and Mandy picked him up into her arms and he licked her face a little. "Benny! No." She stroked him gently and he calmed down. "Good boy." She turned to me. "Becky sweetie, can you go get your things ready and don't forget you need what you're wearing for our celebration dinner. And same for you Mari, go get ready for Chris's and whatever you need for dinner tonight Alright honey."

"Yes mom." I called and went and gathered my things such as my dress, my makeup for the evening and a clutch bag. I then went and helped my sister get her dress down from her closet and the things she wanted. When then put Benny in his little cage, he was too young an not trained enough to sleep in an open bed so his bed was in this large cage. We had brought him a comfortable bed that was a deep blue and all the things he needed. We got toys, more food, treats, a collar and ordered his tag. The tag has the inscription of his name, my phone number, our address and my name. He had everything the needed. We then headed out to Mandy and got in her car to go to Chris's. We dropped Maribelle off with Benny and some of his things. We didn't want to leave him home alone for too long, so Chris agreed to watch him as well. Mandy and I then headed to the theatre for the show. She got ready as usual and went on. Joanna and Anthony were better now so they got to go back on again. Josh was on for Man 6 so I had to sit in the chill out area by my self for most of the show. People came though and there were points when I had people to talk to. In act two I did my hair and make up for our dinner.
