Y/N'S POV
The second I got back from my mission, Mother was not pleased at all. She scolded me about everything that I did wrong, but she did not even give me credit for the things that were right.
When she dismissed me to my room, I immediately laid down to take a nap. When I woke back up, Damian and Grandfather were at the door.
I sat up, and Damian asked me,"Are you not going to train, Y/N?"
I sighed and replied,"No. Mother wasn't impressed with my work today and she made it clear that she did not want to see me. That she expected more."
Grandfather said to me,"I know Talia can be rough, but you are one of the best here. Along with your brother. You two have come a long way and your mother knows that. She just has a different way of showing it. Look at me."
I looked at Grandfather and tried to remain strong.
He admitted to me,"Your mother treats you like that because you are better than she was when she first started. However, she should not be so hard on you and I will talk to her about that. Okay?"
I nodded and hugged him, before he slowly hugged me back. He pulled away from the hug and walked out of the room.
Damian asked me,"Y/N, are you all right?"
I shook my head and said,"No. She's never satisfied, Damian, and I don't want to be an assassin."
Mother walked in, and of course, she was angry. I wouldn't expect anything less from her.
Damian went to cover for me, but Mother harshly said to me,"Y/N, you are of my blood, and you will stay here. I don't care what you feel, because this is not a choice. You're weak, and you won't stand a chance out there. If you fight like what you've shown me, you won't make it."
I looked down, and Damian said,"Mother, that's enough. You're hurting her."
Mother looked at Damian and laughed, before she said to me,"She needs it. She needs to hear the truth from someone."
Mother walked out, and I immediately held onto Damian, breaking down on his shoulder. Damian froze at first, but then he slowly moved his arms to hold me.
Damian said,"Y/N, you know she's not right. Father believes in you and so does Grandfather."
That night, I had a hard time going to sleep. I would have asked Damian to at least watch me, but I had already made him comfort me.
I decided it would be best if I went to see Father. I ran all the way to Gotham and snuck into Father's room. He was asleep, which did surprise me, but I needed him to talk to.
I put my stuff down and gently sat down on the bed, then I reached over to rest my hand on his shoulder.
I shook him and said,"Father?"
He slowly opened his eyes and said,"Alfred, I'm-Y/N?"
He sat up and asked me,"What are you doing here? Your mother know?"
The second he said that, the tears came back, and I wrapped my arms around his shoulders.
He pulled me into his lap and softly asked me,"Y/N, what are you doing here?"
I explained to him, holding on to him tighter,"Mother is never happy with what I do, and she always puts me down. She said I was weak, and I wouldn't last out there. She said I needed to hear it from someone. Father, I want to stay with you."
He frowned and said,"You're not weak, darling, and you know that. I've seen you out there, and I know you are gifted. I'm telling you that you're worth the time. Don't listen to her. Just focus on what I've taught you. You're not an assassin, and you can choose what you want to be. She can't do that for you. What do you want to be, Y/N?"
I said,"I want to be your daughter."
Father made me look at him and said,"No matter what the League has made you do, you will always be my daughter. There is not a second where I have not thought of you and Damian. I love both of you, and of course you can stay. Don't worry about your mother. I've got you."
I hugged him, and he hugged me back saying,"You know I believe in you, don't you?"
I smiled a little and replied,"I know, Father. I love you."
He said,"Y/N, I love you, too. Hey, look."
Father pulled away from the hug and motioned to the door.
I saw Grandfather, and he sent me a smile saying,"See, Detective sees your talent. As do I."
I smiled back at him, and he said,"No matter what lies ahead, I will make sure you are not alone."
I said,"Thanks, Grandfather."
