Y/N'S POV
As I scanned through all the negative comments about me on the Internet, the laptop was snatched out of my hand. With that, Bruce threw his laptop across the room.
"Baby!! You broke it! Don't you need that?"
Bruce grabbed his phone and looked over at the laptop saying,"No, not really. I can get another one."
I slowly nodded. Bruce leaned back on his desk, crossing his arms.
He sighed and then asked me,"Why do you keep doing this to yourself, Y/N? Why?"
I said,"I just like to know what's out there. Don't you, Bruce? I mean, you're basically everywhere."
"No, I don't really care about what's out there about me. Most of the time, it's not true and it only makes my job harder. Just like you make it harder on yourself absorbing all those things those people say about you."
Bruce walked up to me and cupped my face saying,"I will do everything in my power to love you more than any other man ever could, but I need you to trust my instincts. Trust my judgement. You don't need all those products. You're beautiful in your natural shape and look. I didn't marry you because of what you were wearing."
I did my best to take in everything Bruce just said to me. This was why I don't know what I would do without this man in my life.
Bruce knew me well. He knew me well enough to know I had insecurities, yet he always went out of his way to talk to me. To try to convince me to just be myself.
I said,"Even if I were bald, you'd still love me?"
Bruce smiled at me and nodded saying,"Yes, I would still love you. Appearance isn't everything."
Bruce let go of my face and held out his hand saying,"Come on. I could use your eyes and ears, while I'm giving my speech."
I intertwined my fingers with his own, and Bruce and I separated once he headed onto the stage. I found a close spot to the front and looked around to make sure everything was okay. There was a woman who kept looking at me, and I just focused on watching Bruce's back.
However, the woman walked up to me and said,"Are you Y/N L/N?"
I politely said,"I'm not really interested in an interview right now. I'm trying to have my husband's back right now."
The woman nodded and fixed her dress saying,"Right. That dress looks a little farfetched. Perhaps you were simply trying too hard?"
Image. Image. I couldn't mess it up. I had been doing so good so far.
I swallowed my comebacks and replied as delicately as possible to the woman,"I see nothing wrong with trying to be separate from the crowd. If I'm the only one willing to be, then that's okay."
The woman seemed stunned by my reply but smiled brightly at me saying,"That actually was a test just then. Your husband sent me over here to approach you."
I looked Bruce's way and he sent me a smile, then he continued his speech.
I said to the woman,"He is one slick man, but I love him. Did he think I'd fail? Is that why he sent you?"
She shook her head and said,"The exact opposite, actually. He knew you'd pass. I saw you battling with yourself, but I'm glad you passed as well. I'm Brianna. It's nice to meet you, Mrs. Wayne."
I shook her hand and looked back at Bruce saying,"You too, Brianna."
"Mrs. Wayne?"
I glanced over at Brianna, and she said,"I have an eighteen-year-old daughter, and she's been struggling lately. I'm not really sure how to help her. Do you...Do you think you could find the time to come over and speak to her?"
I could see Brianna really needed someone to come through. I didn't know if I would be much help, but I had to try.
"Of course, I can find the time. Here, why don't you bring her by Wayne Manor and let me know when you're stopping by with your daughter?"
Brianna eagerly nodded and then turned back to write about the press conference.
....
After the press conference was over, Bruce met me halfway and wrapped his arms around me.
He said,"I'm proud of you. I know you passed, Y/N."
I smiled at Bruce and said,"What would have happened if I would have failed?"
Bruce moved my hair out of my face and admitted,"Failing isn't something you do often. If you did fail, then you would have learned from it. I just had this feeling that you would pass."
"I know I should be mad that you did that, but I'm not. Thank you for having so much faith in me, Batman. It means the world to me, and I will work on trying to be comfortable with the way I am."
