   VALERIE'S POV

  My half-brother, Conner, entered my room and asked me,"Val, you okay in here?"

  I nodded and replied,"Yeah. Yeah. I just needed to feed Leo. Why?"

  Conner sat down beside me and looked over at Leo, my pet lion. Leo was actually big enough to be fully grown, but he just acted like a big ol' baby most of the time. I did not mind it, since I took care of him like he was one.
  I guess taking care of him was my way to escape having to talk to everyone else. I was pretty quiet, but because I sucked at communication. It had never been my thing. Ever. I guess I could thank the scientists at Cadmus for that. They practically stripped me from feeling much of anything really.

  Trust me, trying to get all of that back was really hard. From what I could tell, Conner struggled with it somewhat, too. The only reason how the team noticed me was when Cadmus sent me after them to recapture Conner, after he escaped. Dick, being who he was, offered me a chance to join the team and get to know my brother. I was not going to turn Dick down.

  Conner explained to me,"I know communication is hard for you, Val, but know I can still try to help you, okay? You may not be my immediate sister, but you are still family. If you need something from me, just ask."

  I nodded and thought about it, before I asked him,"How do I get Blue's attention?"

  Conner looked upset by that question, and I could not understand why. Was it the way I said it? Should I have just kept my mouth shut? The one time I finally opened up about something, he did not like it.

  He said,"Why do you need his attention?"

  I replied,"Because I like him. He always tries to make me laugh, along with Bart."

  Conner said,"Just talk to him, I guess. He was actually looking for you."

  My eyes widened, and Blue walked into the room.

  He sent me a smile and said,"Hey, Valarie. Do you have a minute?"

  Conner led Leo out of the room, and Blue sat down beside me.

  He asked me,"Do you have training today at all?"

  I shook my head and answered,"No. Superman said that I have been overworking myself too hard the last few days, and that I need to take a break. He forced me to. Why?"

  He admitted to me,"I would like to take you to dinner one evening, when you do not have training. Will tonight at 6 be all right?"

  I smiled and nodded like an idiot, which made me blush at Blue's face. Blue laughed and took my hand, as to which I drew my hand back out of fear. I was scared I would hurt him.

  Blue frowned and took my hand another time, but it took me a minute to get used to it.
  Blue smiled, when I let him hold my hand. When Conner walked in, Conner's eyes turned red and Blue immediately let go of my hand.

  I took Blue's hand back, and Conner sighed, walking out.

  Blue said,"Val, is he going to kill me when he comes back?"

  "I wouldn't worry about it, Blue. He doesn't even know I'm stronger than him. I don't think he wants to find that out. Don't worry. He won't be a problem."
