Our eyes stay strongly connected to one another, not for one second becoming freed from the others gaze as we could basically see the retinas of one another from across the table. I smiled as his eyes became watery, making him blink and I cheered. "Yes!"
"Fuck," he grunted.
I stuck out my hand with a cheerful grin, "I believe you owe me fifty bucks."
"When I grow a beard," he sassed.
"Ah man, that's never gonna happen," he rolled his eyes making me chuckle. "You're not being fair Drew."
"She's right. The two of you made a bet and you lost. If it were the other way around, you would demand the same thing she is," Mia spoke up as she took a bite of her pizza.
"Of course you're on her side, why do you hate me so much anyway?" Drew sighed pulling out his wallet.
"I'm not on anyone's side and I don't hate anyone. The two of you made a bet and I wouldn't say I hate you, I just strongly dislike you with a passion," Mia shrugged and I chuckled before Drew stood and plopped the fifty in front of my tray.
"There's your money, I have practice. You know how Mr. Sternhagen gets when you miss practice," he pecked my forehead in a brotherly way and shot daggers at Mia, running out the cafeteria doors.
I turned back to my best friend who was trying to hold back a smile as she typed away in her phone. "It's Josh, isn't it?" Her and Josh met a few weeks ago at the park and straight away hit it off. The number of times she smiles, my cheeks would've fallen off if I were her.
"Kayla," she sighed looking up at me.
"What?" I questioned with a mouth full of my Kaylette.
"Josh and I broke up three weeks ago. I'm talking to Reece."
"Reece?"
She sighed, "Remember, the one I told you about last week."
"Was that when I was playing Fortnite?" She nodded. "You really shouldn't disturb me while I'm playing," I shrugged.
"Anyway, he's taking me out next week to see that movie Kingdom Come" she squealed and so did I. I heard that movie is like a horror slash romantic slash dramatic kind of thing. It's one of those movies that only show once so if you miss it, you miss it.
"Aw, lucky duck. I wish I could come but my dad is taking us to the museum," I love art. Any type. Music, drawings, dancing. Everything about it just makes me happy. A trip to the museum? Hell yeah.
We continued to talk for awhile until Kaitlyn came over to our table, "Hey, you're invited to my party," she handed an invitation to Mia but I pushed mine away.
"I don't do parties," I declined and she frowned.
"Please Mikayla? You never come to my events," Kaitlyn whined.
"I'm sorry, it's Friday. Jordan, Drew and I have our weekly Fortnite match."
"Don't worry Kaitlyn, we'll be there." Mia said firmly, in a way that makes me feel I have no choice.
Oh no.

"Please?"
"No."
"Please?"
"No."
"But why?"
Dad sighed, "Kayla, this will be a great opportunity for you to connect more with the outside world. Music won't help you get through reality-"
"It got Rihanna, Cardi B, Beyonce and Ella Mai poppin in reality," I whined.
