It was the most painful type of loss.
You.
Slowly melting away.
Making sure you burnt every last piece of my heart.

"She left this in your locker?" I look back up at Jace. He nods. "Bu–But how? Does she know your combination or something or.."
"No. She must've slipped it through those little air gaps. I mean, I don't even know my own combination half of the time," he chuckles, trying to brighten the mood but it didn't really help.
Groaning, I crumbled the paper and threw it in my little desk trash before going through my drawers for sweats and a shirt. I begin to pull down my skirt.
"Do you want me to walk out or turn around or...?" Jace asks and I send a serious look at him.
"Don't act like you didn't see that video on Monday or me in a bathing suit."
His cheeks flush as he looked down at his lap. I slip on the sweats and take off my top. Fortunately I was wearing a strapless bra so it wasn't that awkward. I just slid on the shirt before removing the bra easily.
I push my curls out my face by tying my hair up and turn off the light before I get comfortable in the bed, pulling Jace with me.
"Mikayla, I have to go back home," he chuckles in a whisper.
"Can you please just stay the night? I really," I sigh, wrapping my arms around his waist as I lay on his chest, "I really don't want to be alone. Especially not now."
His body vibrates as he laughs before he fixes himself more comfortably in the bed. "I'm here for you, princess."

I wrap my arms around Zayn. "I'm gonna miss you so much," I sniffle.Zayn laughs at that and wraps his arms around my small frame. "I'm gonna miss you too, baby sis. But I'll be back in a few weeks on Thanksgiving."
I nod and we release. I wipe my tears and hug Kaitlyn. "Treat Jace well," she says.
I laugh. "I will."
Kaitlyn pulls me at arms length. "I'm serious. Jace is like my brother. I've seen the way you guys are with the other. Whether the two of you may think you're just gonna be highschool sweethearts or you're just this little fling, I believe that he wants more than that. You want more than that. Keep him well," she smiles.
I do too. "I'm stuck to him like white on rice," I joke and we both laugh.
After a few last hugs and goodbyes, Zayn and Kaitlyn headed for their plane.
I cried the whole ride back home.
Zayn and I always had our differences. But in these past few months, we got closer and I actually consider him more of a brother and not a guy that I just happen to share a last name, home, parents and siblings with.
"You good?" Jordan peeks his head through the door.
I nod and wipe my tears with the dark sheets. "I'll be fine. Goodnight brother," I reassure.
He smiles back in the dim light. "Night big head," he says before shutting the door.
Does everybody just call me that now?
The next Saturday
"Mikayla," the door swung open and I groan."What?" I groan through the pillow, my voice of course groggy from sleep.
