I woke up to the slightest of knocks on the door. Jace was passed out, his arms spread apart. The Xbox controller in his right hand. I was still laying on his chest.
Slowly, I sit up and thankfully don't disturb him. I adjust the hoodie before walking to the door. At first, I didn't think there was anyone there until I feel a tap on my leg. I look down and see the cutest of babies there.
Karley sips her juice box. "Weh Jace?" She questions.
I squat down to be at her level. I've actually never talked to Karley, I just realized. "He's still asleep," I smile. "Have you eaten your breakfast?" She shakes her head and I stand before feeling her tiny little hand in mine.
I smile and basically follow her down the stairs and into the kitchen. A broad back greets us, as well as a head full of ruffled dark short curls. Mr. Morgan was–for the first time that I've seen–in grey and black patterned sweats, I couldn't see his shirt but as well in a black robe.
I didn't know what to do so I just treat him like I would my own father. "Good morning."
He turns towards me and I could tell he had just woken up. His gaze on me made me uncomfortable as I fiddle with a losse thread on Jace's hoodie. "Well hello there, Mikayla. I didn't know you were around," he smiles. It was an actual genuine smile. It reminded me alot of Jace's. Actually, just looking at him made me want to know more about their relationship.
"Oh..um, yeah," I nervously smile. "I spent the night after me and Jace's movie. I-I hope you don't mind?" I question.
He shakes his head, standing with his mug. "Not at all. Anyway, have a great day."
"You too," I smile, actually feeling a bit more comfortable.
He left the room.
I look down at Karley before picking her up and placing her in the high chair against a wall. "Now, what do you want to eat?" I smile.
"Eggy! Eggy!" She cheers.
I smile and nod, handing her one of the toys I saw on the counter for her to play with.
I open up the fridge and grab eggs, green pepper, tomatoes, onions, milk and cheese before placing them all on the island. "I like cheese in my eggs. Do you like cheese in yours?" I ask, grabbing the box of pancake mix out from the cupboard.
Karley smiles with a nod. "Cheese! Cheese! Look at me."
I turn to her.
She smiles brightly, her eyes turning to thin lines. Just like Jace's. "Cheeessssee!"
I laugh at that, smiling back before turning on the TV and changing the channel to Disney Junior for her.
I quickly get started to making the eggs and pancakes. Almost an hour later, I place a few eggs and a pancake on her plate. I cut up the pancake–just like my parents used to do for me–before drizzling it with syrup and placing it on her highchair. Along with a new juice box. I pull her out to wash her hands then place her back in.
I make a plate of my own before sitting on a stool and watching whatever new Mickie Mouse show this is.
I smell a very strong scent of unfamiliar cologne before Mr. Morgan walks back in. "Mikayla, please tell everyone I have headed to the airport?"
I stood. "Have you eaten?" I can never leave the house without eating.
"I drank coffee–"
"Yet you haven't answered my question," I smirk. I fix a plate for him before handing it to him.
