I wiggle my feet in the water below me, "I don't know what his problem is. He just had a sudden mood switch and he's smoking and everything, looking all depressed. I've never seen someone like that since....never."

Mia comes out the pool amd sits beside me, avoiding splashing me like I've told her many times because I was still in my clothes, "Have you tried asking him?"

"Of course I've tried. He just answers rudely and ignores. Like this morning, I was sitting outside and he was just walking around away from me. Then all of a sudden he just goes in the house and slams the door," I swing my arms around for extra effect. "I don't know if I did something or said something that may have offended him but whatever this is about he needs to know I'm honestly sorry and I didn't mean to hurt him."

Drew sits on my left, splashing me in the process and earning a glare. "Sorry. But I don't want you to have to stress over this situation. I mean, I know the two of you are great friends and all that but have you ever thought of Phoenix this much?"

My brows crease in confusion, "What are you trying to say?"

"I'm was just saying tha-"

"Are you trying to say I'm cheating on Phoenix?" My voice rises slightly.

"Of course I'm not."

"Well that's what you're implying." I stood up and slid on my shoes. "I'm in a relationship with Phoenix, not Jace. The relationship Jace and I share is very mutual and on a friendly page and nothing else. You accusing me of cheating on your brother is very insulting and I've honestly never been so offended."

I squat down so that I'm now at his level since he was still sitting, giving him a hard glare. "Whatever you think me and Jace are or may be doing is wrong. We are only friends. Nothing more and nothing less. His situation right now has nothing to do with my boyfriend but excuse me for caring about one of my friends who is going through a rough time." I stood before storming towards the door.

"Mikayla!" I slam the door before running up the stairs, ignoring all the looks I was getting and into Jace's room. He was already asleep on his air matress and his face looked hard as he slept, a clear sign that he was going through something.

I lay in the bed and pull out my phone, texting Kehlani.

Hey

I know it's kind of weird that I'd text you while we're under the same roof

But I was wondering if maybe you'd know what's been up with Jace lately

He's just been acting really weird lately and I know he's your brother and all so I thought maybe you'd know

Not even two minutes later she responds.

I don't really know much

But I just know that tomorrow is some specific date of his

He usually doesn't talk to anyone and all that on that day

He would just walk around quietly and stuff but none of us have ever bothered to ask what was wrong

I turn off my phone and sigh. Tomorrow's March 28th but what could be so important on that day and what could have happened?

I switch off the light and crouch down beside Jace, just starting at him. His hair was scattered everywhere, brown eyes pinned shut. Though I noticed how his mouth was partly opened as he slept, drool rolling down his face.
