I shove my phone in my pocket after still not getting a reply from Mikayla. She's been gone for more than fifteen minutes, now. Maybe she just came out to dance or something?I walk out of the kitchen and back into the living room where countless bodies were scattered around. Did I want this party? No. But my sister's did and it's celebrating the graduation too so I couldn't just be selfish over the situation.
Spotting Carter, I pull him by his hoodie to get his attention. "What?" He questions, sipping whatever was in his cup.
"What are you drinking?!" I question.
"Kool aid." I give him an unbelievable stare. "See for yourself."
I look into the red plastic cup wnd sniff it. It was Kool aid. Strawberry flavor for that matter. "Alright, fine. Have you seen Kayla?!"
"No! I haven't seen her since that moment in the kitchen! I thought she was with you?!"
I roll my eyes at him. "Well if she was with me do you think I'd be asking where she is?! Help me find her!"
He nods and we both go our separate ways. I start by checking most of the rooms downstairs since they were the only open ones, before making my way upstairs. The twins room, my parents room, my room and all my sisters rooms were locked.
She said she was going to the bathroom so I skip over all the open guest rooms and walk over to the door. I try opening it but it was locked. I bang on the door. "Yo! Mikayla, you in there?!"
No response.
And I'm not a patient person.
I lift my foot before crashing my foot down and it collides with the doorknob, which pops off and plunges toward the ground.
The door swings open and I walk in, feeling my heart be left behind me.
Mikayla lay there unconcious, pale looking even. Her jeans were to her ankles, and her shirt basically hung on her neck. The tear stains on her cheeks made everything worse, though.
I quickly rush toward her, the tears stinging my eyes. I don't even cry much and obviously this whole situation was more than new to me.
No, this is not one of those Telenovela, Zee bolly movie, Hollywood type of shit where I start calling out her name. Instead, I check for a pulse.
Which thank God she had.
I don't even bother wasting time and quickly throw off my jacket and use that to cover her body. It covers enough at least. I pick her up and carry her to my room. Luckily, there was no one in the hallway.
Fiddling with my back pocket, I grab the keys and open the door before locking it behind myself. I gently place her on the bed before removing her jeans and shirt and sliding one of my hoodies on her and sweats.
She never sleeps in the blankets so I have to keep her warm somehow.
Her skin was cold at the touch, and it's getting colder outside and I don't want my baby getting sick.
I peck her forehead before leaving the room and locking the door, standing at the upstairs balcony that exposed me to the whole living room. "Party's over! Everybody out!" I yell as loud as possible.
No one even questions it as they all file out the building one by one. I signal Kehlani to come and she does within seconds. "Yeah?"
"Please make sure everybody leaves. I don't want to see anyone in the house. Close all doors and windows and lock them all. Got it?"
