"So, what are your plans for the day?" Mia asks as we make our way to the girls changing rooms.
"Well actually, I'm supposed to meet Jace's parents tonight," we both walk in and head to our little lockers which are across from each other, a bench in between the both of us.
"Aw, that's cute. But how do you feel with everything going on? You know, considering that you like like him," she questions and I roll my eyes.
"You don't need to just throw it out to the world like that." She gives me a small smile, "But-"
The sound of the door opening stops me and in comes Mere, her hair up in a messy bun and wearing sweats and a hoodie.
Her eyes lock with mine and I smile. "Oh, hey Mere."
She gives me a small grin of her own. "Hi Mikayla."
I turn to look at Mia who also has a small smile. "Mia, this is Mere. Mere, Mia."
"Hey look at that. We're three M's in a pod." We all laugh at Mia's joke.
"You have gym right now?" I turn my attention back to Mere.
She nods. "Yeah, we share all of the same classes."
"Really? How come I've never noticed you?" I'm sure she must be one of those quiet girls that sit in the corner and don't participate much. I used to be one of those too, then Mia moved schools...
Mere only shrugs with a giggle. "No idea."
We all change into our PE attire-the school shirt and basketball shorts-before making our way to the gym. Everyone was seated on the bleachers, waiting for Coach Nyle to show up.
I spot Finn and smile, running up the bleachers to hug him. "Hey Finny Winny."
"Hey Kayla Wayla," he chuckles and we release. I notice Mere just standing there, looking down at her converse shoes.
"Oh, Finn, this is Mere," I introduce the two and her head sprouts up with a small smile.
"Pleasure to meet you," she sticks out her hand.
Finn shakes it with squinted eyes. Do they know each other? "Finn."
Awhile later, Jace walks in. Looking mighty fine, if I do say so myself in the schools wife beater and basketball shorts.
Coach Nyle follows right behind him, the whole class pouncing off the bleachers and onto the basketball court. "Okay, so the guys basketball game is coming up at the end of the month! So, we'll just have warmups for the first period then I'll focus solely on the best male players!"
The guys look happy but us girls grown, knowing that we have two periods of gym and Coach Nyle is not one of those coaches that will take it easy on you for being a girl.
"Give me twenty burpies!" He blew his whistle and we all get down in push-up positions, do the push up, before jumping up several times. But by the fourth, I'm tired.
I groan causing Jace to smile. "What's with the smile?"
"Nothing. You just look so cute all whiny," he jokes and I just stick my tongue out at him.
"Morgan! King! No talking!"
But it's not like we stopped the exercise...
"Sorry!" We both mumble an apology, continuing on.
"Are you nervous for tonight?" Jace still asks, even after the warning.
"Of course..." I jump up and get back down, smiling once I notice that he's going at the same pace as me. "...I am. Fake dating or not, this is my first time meeting your parents."
