Munchkin

•Twenty Eight•

I slide on some sweats and a hoodie, as well as my slides. The plan is that Jace, Finn, Laila, Jordan, Kehlani, Kaitlyn, Zayn, Mia, Drew and I all meet up at The Diner before heading to Nadu which is about a six hour drive from Samoi.

Mia finished packing my stuff on Friday even though she didn't even get any of my clothes from my closet and I'm sure she's packed Drew's stuff as well.

"Mom! Dad! We're leaving!" I yell as Jordan and Zayn come out of their rooms with their stuff.

"Have fun kids!" My mom yells back and we all head outside and into Mia's car.

Jordan opens the door for us and we all enter the diner. I spot Laila, Finn, Kaitlyn, Jace and Kehlani all seated at a table. "Hey Mikayla."

"Hey Kehlani. Haven't seen you in forever." I smile as we both have a quick hug.

She smiles. "Yeah. Yet my borthers still a shit brick."

"I heard that!" Jace yells and Kehlani and I both start laughing.

After we had all eaten, we sat in silence planning how we'd travel. "There are two cars and ten of us. Just five in each." I shrug.

"Okay so I guess since there are me and Mia's cars we should choose who goes in them, right?" Finn says, looking over at Mia and the two of them nod.

"Drew, Jordan, Laila..."

"Princess, Idiot, Kehlani.."

Kaitlyn and Zayn both look at the other, realizing they'll be split apart. The two of them hug and release. "I'll go with Mia. Mikayla and I don't get along well." Zayn says and I roll my eyes. Though he is right.

"It's settled then."

Everyone leaves and exits the restaurant. I pause at the door, Jace stopping behind me. "What's wrong?"

I make my way over to the front counter, a girl probably in her mid twenties with bright pink hair wiping it down. "Excuse me?"

She looks up at me with a polite smile. "Yes, how may I help you?"

"Um, may I speak to the manager?"

"I am she."

I smile before continuing. "I was wondering if you had any available spots for waitresses? My sister has been looking for a job."

The lady gives me a card with a number. "Let her call me and I'll see what I can do."

I give her a little nod before leaving the diner, Jace opening the door for me. "You have a sister?"

"Do you think I'd survive with boys my whole life?"

He shrugs with a smile. "It was just a question. Sheesh Munchkin. Hostile much?"

I roll my eyes before settling in the backseat in between Kehlani and Kaitlyn.

The atmosphere became quiet as Jace drove and everyone else typed away on their phones, Finn humming to whatever was playing on the radio.

Right now it was ALL THE STARS by SZA ft Kendrick Lamar. It was currently at the very beginning.

Finns head slowly turns towards me as the SZA part comes on and I smile.

"THIS MAY BE THE NIGHT THAT MY DREAMS MIGHT LET ME KNOW! ALL THE STARS ARE CLOSER! ALL THE STARS ARE CLOSER! ALL THE STARS ARE CLOSER! THIS MAY BE THE NIGHT THAT MY DREAMS MIGHT LET ME KNOW! ALL THE STARS ARE CLOSER! ALL THE STARS ARE CLOSER! ALL THE STARS ARE CLOSER!"

Suprisingly, Kehlani and Kaitlyn had joined in too, Jace's groaning only making us get louder.

"I JUST CRY FOR NO REASON! I JUST PRAY FOR NO REAS-" Jace turned off the radio and we all groaned.
