"You didn't have to pull me aside like that," Jace says as we both get out of his car and into The Diner.
I simply shrug and we sit at a booth, "Didn't think it would really bother you."
Erin, the waitor with the bright blue hair now red though, rolls over in our direction. "Hey guys. What will you like today?"
"I'll take a grilled chicken burger and fries," I close up my menu and place it on the table.
"And to drink?"
"Pink lemonade, please," I smile and he turns his attention to Jace who is staring at me.
"Jace?" Erin asks.
"I'll just get whatever she's having," he simply says, his eyes not leaving mine. It was like the normal brown color of his eyes had become lighter as they pierce through my own.
"Okay then," Erin replys before rolling away.
I crease my eyebrows noticing that Jace was still staring directly at me. "What's wrong, Bubs?"
"Noth–Bubs?" He chuckled.
"Yeah. Fuckface didn't sound right," I shrug, grabbing a peppermint from the bowl at the end of the table. So not better than Endearmints. "But what's really wrong, though?"
He smirks as he interlaces his fingers below his chin, "Are you really up to this?"
"Up to what?"
"Being my girlfriend. I mean, you just broke up with Phoenix last night and I wouldn't want you rushing into anything so quickly."
"Okay, so first off, it's a fake relationship. Second, I don't mind. I know that nothing bad can really come out of this," I'm not completely sure about that, "but what I do know is that if it can help us live happier lives, I wouldn't mind," I shrug truthfully.
He smiles, sitting up, "Okay then–"
"But we do need to make ground rules," I sternly say.
"Like?"
"No kissing, no inappropriate touching even though I know you probably won't follow that," I send him a glare and he smirks. "Yeah, that's about it. But don't be shy to brag about me to all your little friends. By friends I mean Finn."
We both chuckled at that.
"But how will we get the news out? Like, are we just gonna start holding hands in the hallway and expect everyone to pick it up?" Jace asks as Erin returns with our food. We give him smiles of gratitude and he rolls away.
I shrug, grabbing a fry. "I don't know. We can probably like take a picture or something and then I'll post it on my Instagram." I pull out my phone and unlock it.
"How many followers do you have?" Jace asks with a mouthful.
"Um...," I trail off as I open my Instagram and go to my account. "10 thousand," I shrug.
"How long have you had your account?" His eyes widen.
"Since I was probably ten. Now come here."
—okay, so this is really hard to explain—
From across the table, Jace wraps his right arm around my shoulders and I wrap my left arm around his. It was an awkward pose considering we were across from one another. My left cheek was smooshed up against his right one and we both made silly faces and he took the picture since he has longer arms.
"That was so awkward," Jace chuckles and I just smile as we both sit ourselves down.
"Yup," is all I say as I post the picture with the caption "Bubs 💛"
