The sound of small coughs wake me up and I slowly open my eyes, blinking repeatedly to adjust to the sun's rays coming through the window. My chest vibrates as Mikayla coughs again and I remember last night.

She came in, still in her bathing suit and wet, we talked and I forgave her and eventually fell asleep. I woke up in the middle of the night to tell her to change but she's very persistent so I just covered her with a small blanket.

Even now, she's still cuddled on my chest though the blanket has now dropped down to her waist, her hair glistening with chlorine. "Mikayla," I lightly whisper and she coughs again. "Princess, you need to get up," I say stronger this time.

A few seconds later, she muffles words to herself and eventually sits up, eyes heavy and her hair everywhere as she sways, trying not to fall back asleep. She was just about to talk when she started coughing again, almost for a whole ten seconds.

"Are you okay?" I ask worriedly and she nods.

"Yeah. I'm sure it's just a little flu from sleeping in wet clothes," she whispers, her eyes now closed and voice barely audible. She trys to lean back on my chest but I push her off.

"Go take a shower. I don't want you to get sick." My hand finds it's way to her cheek as I push her hair out of her face. She nods before getting up and heading to the shower.

My white shirt was a little damp as well, my sweats too. I grab a towel and head to the hallway bathroom.

Once I'm done, I throw on a black tee and some jeans before heading into the kitchen and making Mikayla and I bows of cereal, knowing that that's what she's gonna make anyway.

The door opens and Laila and Finn walk in talking about something. "Morning," greets Laila.

"Hey," is my reply. "Are we seeing a movie today or no?"

"Yeah, later tonight," Finn replies. It was then that I notice that they're fully dressed too.

"What time is it?"

"Almost two in the afternoon. You and Mikayla were sleeping for a really long time," Laila chuckles as she grabs a drink from the fridge.

"How is that even possible? We fell asleep at like nine," I exclaim.

"Boy, don't ask us. Ask your bed. It must have suff–ered last night," Finn chuckles and I roll my eyes at him, placing spoons in each bowl.

Mikayla walks in wearing sweats and a shirt that I knew for a fact was mine. "Where'd you get that?" I ask, referring to the shirt.

She chuckles but it's cut short when she starts coughing again. I pour her a glass of water and she instantly chugs the whole thing down. After a few seconds she finally responds, "You left it at my house."

"When?"

"Remember that might when–" she paused and we both look at Finn and Laila who both look very intrigued.

"When what?" Laila ask with a grin, playing with a banana in her hand.

"I got it from your drawer," Mikayla shrugs a lie.

"Jace, just let me do it," I say as he just continues to get it right.

"I almost got it, if you'd just be patient," he says and I can feel his hands trying to gather my hair up with the gel.

He said he'd try to do my hair and I said that he could just let me do it and we'd be done by now but when he's made his mind up about something, he'll do it.

"Okay but just don't get no hair in my food," I say with a mouthful, eating probably my fourth bowl of cereal today.

I'm still in the same clothes I had on this morning, just with a black hoodie which was actually Jace's on and we were both wearing our matching shoes.

Not too long later Jace announces, "Done." I stand from the bed and continue eating my cereal as I woke in the bathroom to see myself in the mirror. My hair was completely pushed to the side and hair was sticking up everywhere, defeating the purpose of the gel.

I turn to Jace who looks hopeful and smile, slowly removing the hair band from my hair and he pouts. "You'll get it soon, don't worry."

After I hand him my bowl, he watches as I redo my hair and put it up in a pineapple. "You would think living with four girls would have it's benefits," he scoffs.

"You have four sisters?" The two of us walk down the stairs and into the kitchen.

"Yeah. But obviously none of them have curly hair like yours so I don't know how to do all that."

We arrive at the movies a few minutes later and Jace bought me a milkshake because he said a slushie wouldn't help with my cough. The seating arrangement was Jace at the far end, me, Finn, Laila, Kehlani, Drew, Mia, Kaitlyn, Jordan then Zayn going from left to right. I don't know why Kaitlyn and Zayn and Laila and Jordan were dispersed but I don't really care.

Warning: Darkest Minds spoilers coming up

The movie was great and I really loved the concept especially Charles, until everything went down hill when they brought out the reds at the little camp. They just started breathing out fire and we all know how Jace gets with this stuff so he was currently covering his face with his hands and I just ruffled with his hair before stealing a sip of his slushie.

"It's over now," I whisper to him but he shakes his head.

"I don't think I trust you."

I stay quiet and just stare straight ahead at the screen, a pang felt in my heart from his words. A warm hand was felt on my right hand I turn back to him. "I'm sorry," he whispers and I nod before turning back to the screen.

It was now at the part where I forgot what that girl's name is was kissing that guy which I forgot the name to as well. "Yes sis! Get your man, honey!" Finn yells, everyone in the theater shushing him.

Jace's hand was still on mine and I felt a tight squeeze in it. I turn to him but his eyes are focused to the screen so I turn back to it. She was erasing herself from his memory.

"What the fuck?!" Finn yells out again but this time no one shushed him because he was right.

I would never want to be forgotten by someone.

Even if we can't be together in the end.

"That movie had such a shitty ending," Finn groans as he backs out the parking lot of the mall. "Like who wipes paint in their head and call it an ending?" He scoffs.

Kehlani, Finn and Laila all start discussing it but I can only pay attention to the Princess resting on my lap. I unconciously run my fingers through her ponytail or whatever the fuck it's called as she sleeps.

We arrive at the house awhile later and I unbuckle my belt and get out the car before unbuckling hers and managing to carry her back inside. She looked so precious when she was asleep.

The stairs were a natural struggle and I could feel her grip on my neck tighten as I walk up them all. I soon place her on the bed and even take off her shoes for her and all. I just sat there and examine her before sighing.

It's a darn shame I can't have her.

Short chapter but whatever. I'm almost to chapter fourty and the key parts of this book haven't even come yet. *Exageratingly sighs*
