"But I have my driver's license." Mia protests.

"Yeah and you're also drunk." Drew opens his mouth to defend but I beat him to it. "So are you. You guys, if you get caught drunk driving you can get into real trouble."

They both sigh in defeat and I smile, starting the car. "But you don't even have a license." Mia says and I see that she's now leaning against Drew's lap in the back through the rearview mirror before quickly turning back to the road.

"But I still have my learner's permit."

The next morning, I woke up to about ten texts from Phoenix.

>> Good morning love 💛

>> Hope you slept good

>> That is whenever you do wake up 😂

>> Anyway...

>> My dad has gone out and won't be back til late at night

>> And Drew is with Mia

>> Leaving me alone with Lisbeth

>> So I was wondering if you'd want to come over and help out with her?

>> I know how much you love her and I'm sure she'd want to see you

>> But also because I already miss you like crazy and I don't want to go to the fair alone with her

I chuckle at the last message before turning off my phone and headed for the shower, already knowing that he'd bring up me leaving him on seen as soon as I saw him.

I went for a simple look of jeans, a black graphic tee which stopped just a few inches before my jeans and some black sneakers.

Drew's house was literally a walk away so I just decided on walking there, arriving not even fifteen minutes later.

I knock on the door and wait patiently for the door to open. It swings open and I start to think the wind pushed it open before looking down and realizing it was little four year old Lisbeth. "Kayla!" She hugs my legs.

"Hey Lis. Haven't you been taught not to open the door for strangers?" I ask, closing the door behind me and carrying her with me into the kitchen where I found Phoenix pouring cereal into a bowl.

I plop Lisbeth on the island. "Well yeah but Nick told me you were at the door." She responds with an innocent look on her face. It's still really hard for her to properly pronounce Phoenix so she calls him Nick, sometimes Bubba.

Phoenix doesn't seem to acknowledge my presence as he grabs Lisbeth from before me and takes her to the dining table, seating her down and handing her her bowl of cereal. "Hey Phoenix."

He ignores me.

"Phoenix..." I chuckle at how emotional he was being simply for ignoring his text.

"You left me on seen." His back was to me but I could tell he had a playful smile on his face.

"Don't be like that. A week into this and you wanna be this salty?" I hug him from the back, resting my head on his back.

"You don't wanna be salty now do you?"

His body vibrates as he chuckled before shifting in my arms and looking down at me, placing his hands on my cheeks just like Ja-

Nope.

"I'm sowi." I pout playfully and he smiles down at me before pecking my lips.

"It's cool. Have you eaten?"
