I follow Jace out of the room, closing the door behind myself. I've felt off this whole morning as if I had something to say but didn't know what it was. When I woke up, Jace was literally staring me down like he was scared or worried or something, I don't know but I don't know what that could be about.I lean on the island as he walks inside the pantry. Yes, inside the pantry. "What did I do last night that has you walking around the house all wide eyed?" I chuckle.
"Child, you looked scary as fuck last night," he says from the pantry.
I raise a brow. What is it that I did? "What did I do?" I bring my thoughts to reality.
He walks out with a box of cereal. "You were for real screaming bloody Mary."
His words cause me to laugh. "I was not."
Jace gives me a serious look and I can tell he was being serious.
I give him a confused look. "What was I saying?"
He pouts, turning away from me to get bowls from the cabinet. "You were asking me to help you," he says in a whisper.
"What did I need help from?"
He shrugs as he sets the bowls on the counter before opening the fridge. "Look, yesterday, you were telling me something about Connor?" He turns to me confused. "What was that about?"
I watch as he poured the cereal into the bowls followed by the milk, trying to regain my memory. "Oh, yeah. Last night when I went to the bathroom. This guy, obviously the caller or stalker or whatever, walked in and locked the door." I stop to try to remember more of the story. I had to remain calm in all of this. Was I scared? Sure as hell. But I didn't want them to know that. They could take advantage. "Um...he was in a black hoodie and dark jeans?"
"Connor was in the same thing," Jace said in realization.
I nod. "Yeah. That's when I asked the guy if he was Connor. But all he did was slam me against the shower and tell me stuff about him never going to jail? I don't know. But I just know it definitely had to be Connor. I eventually just passed out and that's how you must've found me," I shrugged.
He shook his head as if pushing away his thoughts. "Di-did he hurt you? When I found you, your shirt was on your neck and your pants to your ankles."
I shake my head, wiggling my legs. "I don't think so. I mean, if he did..." I give him the look and he easily catches on with a nod, "then shouldn't my pussy be hurting?"
He smirks. "How should I know? I'm not a girl."
I roll my eyes at that. "Yeah, yeah."
His expression suddenly hardens as he looks down at his bowl, shoving cereal in his mouth. "Eat."
I do as told without question. The moment he's done, he just stands there and watched me finish. It was weird. His whole mood has been since we woke up.
I swallow the last of my cereal. "What's wrong with–" he grabs the bowls and places them in the sink before walking out, "you?"
I quickly follow him and find that he's now in his car.
"What the world?" I walk up to his window. "Where are you going?"
"Mikayla, it's either you get in the car or you start counting my bail money." His eyes were cold. Scary even. I was scared of him for the first time in a long time.
I just nod and get into the passenger seat. The drive was short lived, making me question everything that's been going on and why it's effecting him more and not as much me.
