"Write a poem or journal entry inspired by what you can't see"
______________________________________
Darkness is never only the absence of light,
For that might let you see the sparkling stars;
It is when you close your eyes to another's plight,
And refuse to see their invisible scars.
When something wrong happens before you
And you walk away, as though afraid;
You allow a mistake into a crime to grow,
And the road to Hell is surely laid.
Darkness is never only the absence of light,
For the night could be lit by the silver moon;
Yet comparison is a dark terrible blight,
Which traps you in perfection's cocoon.
Ignorance and apathy too are darkness,
As are the deep secret feelings you hold;
Unseen, masked as kind goodness,
Greed and envy, in their embrace do enfold.
Darkness is never only the absence of light,
For the night is dispersed by the rising dawn;
Yet when arrogance and ego rule, nothing's right,
When the game spins; you turn into a mere pawn.
