"Write with a theme of envy and jealousy."

It is a slow burn, a constant itch, an underlying fear, one that arises when you perceive a threat, you feel that someone is going to steal what you have. An anger, a possessiveness that sweeps through you when you think that someone else is a danger to what you have or rather, a danger to the affections of the person you love. It could be real though more often is blown out of proportion by you own inadequacies.
Envy, on the other hand, is when you want something that someone else has, it is coveting it, wanting it, hungering after it. It makes you lose sleep and peace of mind for you cannot stop thinking about it.
Psychologically, there is a difference between both; envy occurs when we lack a desired attribute enjoyed by another. Jealousy occurs when something we already possess (usually a special relationship) is threatened by a third person. And so envy is a two-person situation whereas jealousy is a three-person situation. Envy is a reaction to lacking something. Jealousy is a reaction to the threat of losing something (usually someone). And though the same is often interchanged, it is more because we confuse jealousy with envy rather than the other way round.
However, irrespective of whether they are synonyms or not and despite the psychological difference, both the emotions involve hurt and sleepless night, which only serve to destroy your inner peace.
In the end, both are a waste of time.
