This is my collection of writings for the three hundred and sixty five day writing challenge - where one has to write something daily, every day, for one whole year, based on the prompts provided - as part of an exercise to improve creative writing...
What sort of a prompt is this, write about a piece of furniture? I agree furniture is important, there is nothing more inviting than my bed or more relaxing than the sofa (especially for snoozing while reading the newspaper) but what exactly does one write about it? Maybe I will be generic rather than specific.
Apart from the staple furniture of beds and sofas, the next item would be dining set and a desk or two. I like desks from the simple one above to the elaborate vintage desks with the drop down cover that hides a few pigeon holes and other niches.

I do love them though the antique ones are too expensive to buy and modern carpenters simply cannot get the class of that desk. Guess I will have to make do with my simple one.
Desks are indeed very nice. Beds, I am happy as long as they are sturdy and had a nice thick firm mattress with lovely fluffy pillows (I am now feeling sleepy) Same with sofa and dining chairs, I prefer clean lines with padded seating, no ornate carving for me (they are dust trappers).
Another item of furniture is bookshelves - I love them both the shelves and the books they hold.

I have a bookshelf similar to the above, I think it is going to be my favourite piece of furniture.
