"Write a poem to someone who is estranged from you."
__________________________________________
I could still call you a friend though we are strangers now,
Stranger to the extent that I doubt if I even figure in your thoughts.
Years of friendship simply fizzled out and is now a mere memory,
And at times I wonder if even those days were even real or a dream.
Why did it happen, we, who shared everything?
Why was it that you started to keep secrets from me?
Did you not trust me enough or did you think,
Your happiness would arouse jealousy in me?
I was your best friend but not the first to know
About all those thing happy little things,
But if you needed a shoulder to cry,
I was always there for you.
Maybe it was resentment on my part,
Maybe it was fear from your side,
But somehow somehow, we drifted apart,
And soon the was no longer friendship between us.
Confidences turned to conversations,
Conversations dwindled to polite chatting,
Soon even those were few and far between
And finally it was all silence between us.
Do I blame you, no I am equally at fault,
I too allowed myself to move apart,
And all that I have now, after years,
Is the memory of the moments we shared.
