"Randomly flip to a page in a magazine and write using the first few words you see as an opening line."

The great divide in the mind - we all face that, most of us, almost all the time - the conflict between the logical brain and the emotional heart; the tug of war between what we want and what we need, the war between what is necessary and what is desired. We lose our minds when we follow our hearts and break our hearts when we listen to out minds.

It is such a great divide in the mind - we attempt to control our thoughts and subdue our feelings; we meditate on silences and we discipline our words; we tame our ardent desires and encourage calm actions; we debate ceaselessly on what is right and what is wrong yet end up being confused.

The great divide indeed - when nothing works and everything is wrong; it is like you are damned if you do and damned if you do not; despite your best intentions and your finest efforts, the results fall short of your expectations; when disappointment exceeds hopes and everything is bleak.

It is the great divide in the mind - the heart is restless and the brain is troubled; when what we are and what we want are in conflict; when 'what should be' demands the sacrifice of 'what we are'; when the future is unclear and the past is unclear and your present is unsure.

It is the great divide in the mind.
