"Surely you drink one or the other or know someone who does- write about it!"
_________________________________________
This question, as all those who know me would attest, is a no brainer. Coffee or Tea, can never be a question, it is always coffee for me, all the way. There are times when I am convinced that we are indeed God's favourite for he did gift us coffee.♨♨♨
Now where do I start – at the beginning – with the humble coffee bean, that tiny brown quite indistinguishable seed which, when dried and roasted, is capable of producing the elixir of life, the panacea to most ills and a fragrance that should be bottled and sold.
The history of coffee is equally fascinating (credit to Google and Wikipedia). Coffee was originally native to tropical Africa and exported to countries across the world. Currently it is widely grown in a lot of countries, primarily in the equatorial regions of America, Africa and Asia. The two popular varieties are Robusta and Arabica. There is also a lot of medical jargon as to how beneficial coffee is and how harmful caffeine is, but then who can resist the smell of coffee?
My love for coffee is well known, and almost every story I write would have a coffee shop in it, with at least one of the protagonists being a coffee lover. I might have someone like tea too, but coffee is the main drink in the story. Someday, I think I will do a story where the coffee shop would be the main protagonist, maybe a first person point of view of a coffee shop?
And, why not? A cup of coffee is not a simple thing.
A cup of coffee is a companion to conversations and silence alike, to rainy days and book reading binges, warmth in cold nights and comfort during blue moods. It something to wake up to as well as something to have before you sleep. A cup of coffee is not a simple thing.
