"Write a poem about the things that make you smile."
___________________________________________________
What makes me smile? Let me count them out.
A walk in the warm rain, or a stroll in the cool summer,
And the pertrichor after the first rains.
The faint fragrance of jasmine or night-queen,
The sight of the white stars against the velvety green leaves.
The flight of chirpy sparrows, twittering as they flit around,
And the fluttering of butterflies and translucent dragonflies.
The aroma of baking cakes, sizzle of the dosas,
Of wonderful cooking that fills the home with warmth.
The welcoming pages of a new book, as I embark on a new journey,
Or when I dive into an oft read one, to relive a familiar world.
The joy of shared coffee with my mother and family,
Which brightens when my nephew wants to steal a sip.
The memories of times spent with friends as you recall the laughter shared
And when you plan another rendezvous, as though you are in college again.
A projected completed and well done, and of course the pay check too,
Sharing a couple of jokes and quips with colleagues, simply having fun.
Simple are the reasons to smile, sometimes a stranger's smile does it for you
Just look around you, and I am sure, you will find a thousand too.

Another free verse, I seem to be liking this form, it is nonrestrictive so appears to flow easier.
