❣Dear Boo❣ I'm extremely nervous writing this because it makes it feel more real. Let me introduce myself, my name is Brianna*. I am 21 year old college student. I'm taking my general classes before applying to the RN nursing program. I was almost three weeks later for my menstrual cycle. My fiance and I bought three different pregnancy test and I took them. All three had two lines. My fiance is very supportive and has a great paying job. He is so excited for this baby.
I am terrified.
I am a college student, I'm young and I don't have experience. Do you think I can handle a pregnancy and baby? Do I have to quit school? I notice that you are a mother so I felt okay asking you for advice. What is pregnancy like? Does it hurt? Do I have to learn to love my baby? I'm scared. Please help calm me.
❣Thanks Boo❣ ❣Brianna*❣

Dear Brianna*,
Firstly sweetheart, take a deep breathe. Stress isn't good for you or that precious baby you're pregnant with.
Secondly, congratulations. I know you're terrified right now. So was I, except I was pregnant with my first son when I was 17. I was 18 when I had him. I got pregnant again at age 18 and had my second when I was 19. Age doesn't determine if you're a good mother or not honey. Love does.
Okay, now to time questions. Do you quit school? That's a personal question you can only answer. You know what stress you can handle. I went to school while I was pregnant with my first. I worked with each of my other three children. You can handle school and carrying a baby. Just don't push yourself too much.
What is pregnancy like? AMAZING! To feel something you and the man you love created, inside of your tummy is powerful. The kicks will make your heart beat double because its a blessing to feel your baby grow from the inside. The hiccups are funny. Sometimes the kicks will be so powerful (during the last couple months) that you'll have to stop walking until he/she stops kicking. It's a blessing though. There is morning sickness, that happens at any time, not just mornings. You'll crave food, make sure your fiance gets your cravings. They will be weird, but what the baby wants.. He/She will get. Listen to your doctor. No alcohol, no drugs. If you smoke try to quit ASAP. What you do take in your body, so does your baby. Increase your calorie intake. Your doctor will give you a list of "do and do not's".
Do you have to learn to love your baby? No, you'll love your baby during pregnancy. If not, soon as you give birth all it takes is hearing one cry, one heartbeat and one look in the baby's eyes.
Does it hurt? Pregnancy will cause back pain and ligament pain. Your breast will grow and can ache. Giving birth is painful, but there are options available to help you. I had a c-section (where your tummy is cut open) with all of mine. My first was emergency because his cord was around his neck three times. The other was a repeate, I live in a small town the doctors here don't so a vaginal birth after c-section (VBAC). Discuss this with your doctor as well.
It will be okay sweetheart. A baby is the most precious blessings in the entire world. That child will become your reason for living. You will protect him/her no matter how old they are.
If you have anymore questions please just message me again. I will elaborate every detail possible for you.
♥Thanks for writing in to Dear Boo♥
