Dear Boo,

My name is Marguerite* and I have a problem.

I like this guy, Harry*, he's a little older than me. We're both minors, so don't worry about that. I really like him and don't know what to do.

One of my friends thinks he might be gay, which I have no problem with, but still.

Other friends think I'm insane that I'm just another girl with a huge crush on a guy in a grade above me.

I guess my question is — what should I do?

Another friend wants me to go up and talk to him, but I always get so anxious around my crushes. I start talking awkwardly or begin arguing with them where the patriots or the packers are better. Obviously the patriots! 😂

I don't know how I'm supposed to deal with this. I can't stop thinking about Harry*, or ways to run into him or how I can just talk to him.

It is driving me practically insane because a part of me just wants to get over him and like someone in my own grade. Which I did, but none of them are Harry*.

Please give me advice on how to deal with this!

Love,

Marguerite*

Dear Marguerite*,

Sometimes you have to follow your heart instead of your head. What is your heart telling you to do?

If I was in your situation, I would go up and talk to Harry*. Firstly, became friends with him and then see where everything goes.

When you approach him practice saying hello to people, so you're not nervous.

Try taking baby steps with everything.

Think ahead of what to talk about. Ask him questions about things that he likes and also compliment him.

As you are talking, take deep breaths to relax, make sure to smile a lot and keep eye contact. This shows him that you're interested in what he has to speak about.

Be confident as you talk to him. Don't have it in your mind that you're going to fail. Even if it is only friendship, at least you have that with him, to begin with.

The best type of people to date are friends. When you are friends with a guy before dating him, you're more casual around him and comfortable.

My husband, for example, is my best friend. It makes my marriage so much better.

Anytime you need a friend to talk to, please send me a message.

Love Always,
Boo
