Adele was curious how their conversation went from being serious to Mila asking about her dress. In the back of her mind, she felt the woman had ulterior motives, but she smiled and stared at her like she lost her mind. It wasn't a big deal to her. It was a dress she would wear for one day to marry a man she barely knew after she would put it in the back of the closet. Weddings to her were so overrated, especially big ones, because it felt like putting on a big show for people who rarely spoke to you or didn't know. This wedding was for Luca's family... again, people Dele didn't know, but it was for them to see their Don marry his Donna.
"I picked a dress about two weeks ago... after I was branded like a cow against my will. Luca brought over one of his designers to help design it." Adele said as her fingers gently touched the LK burned on her left shoulder blade and the skull on the back of her neck. She felt like livestock being branded by her owner.
"Don't take that too seriously, Dele. We all had to do it." Mila smiled as Adele rolled her eyes with a sigh. "But that had to be exciting! Luca must really love you." Again Adele glared at the woman like she had lost her fucking mind. Love was a big jump. Although Adele wasn't going to lie, she and Luca did have feelings for one another, but she wasn't sure if it was love yet.
"Love? Have you hit your head recently, Mila? It's just a dress that I'm going to wear once and one time only."
"Maybe so, but for Luca to bring over his top designer to help design her dress says a lot, Adele. He wouldn't do that for just anyone." She explained while Dele tilted her head to the side. How did she know it was one of his top designers? That never came out of her mouth, and as far as she knew, Luca didn't tell anyone about it but Axel.
"Who said it was it was his top designer?"
"Oh, Erik may have said something last week about it." She said, rubbing the back of her neck, but Adele knew that was bullshit. Luca stated he only told his father. So, Erik knew shit. "If you knew about my dress, why ask?" Dele questioned as Mila shrugged her shoulders. Something was wrong with this woman, or she thought Adele was crazy.
It caused Dele's mind to wonder, questioning herself: What was she getting it? Why question her if she knew the truth? Was this a test? Or was she trying to brighten the mood? But one thing was sure Adele was lost for words as her thoughts flooded her mind about what Mila was up to until Luca walked through the door.
"It's time for you to come get your badass children Mila. You know Erik doesn't know how to control those demons."
"How will you have kids if you complain about a four and three-year-old?" She asked as Luca turned his head to the side with his brow arched. "Those are not my kids, and our children won't be fucking bad, that's how." He smirked, making Mila laugh at his comment.
"Huh-uh Luca, these are your kids we are talking about. They are bound to be bad, but only time will tell. Plus, I thought my babies were sleeping." Mila spoke as she passed Luca while he glared at her, sitting beside Adele and his dog Rocky. For a long moment, neither said a word as she and Luca watched the water flow from the waterfall connected to the pool. Adele wanted to speak but had to think carefully about her next words. She needed to get a lot off her chest, and Luca was the only one who could answer them besides Axel and Erik, but she wanted them to come from Luca because he knew his actions the best.
"What if a picture of me reaches the internet with you?" Adele questioned as she continued to stare at the waterfall before her while Luca took a deep breath and looked at her briefly. She knew he was trying his best to earn her trust; therefore, the truth was his only opinion.
"You're not going to let this go, are you?" He asked as Adele shook her head, causing him to sigh. "To the world, you are Rhita Alsdorf, a half-American German girl I met during my trip to London last year. We started dating a few months after meeting, and you were the reason I stopped being seen with random women the past year. I told the media I proposed six months ago."
