Luca was excited to learn Adele was pregnant, although she seemed slightly disappointed. She was thinking more of what people would think than not giving a fuck because it was their life. Axel and the others could stick it where the sun didn't shine because this was their problem at the end of the day, and no one had to care for the baby except them.

However, it made him smile as he watched his wife cook as Tyler and the twins sat in their highchairs, eating, and throwing their snacks at Josie, laughing while she played a game on her iPad. Normally, he ensured the cooks would do this, but Adele insisted they didn't know how to cook her ribs right, and Luca knew not to argue. So, he sat there quietly as she placed the food in the oven after she picked up Heaven and walked to the living room where their sisters and Jacob watched television.

"Dee, we could have helped you cook."

"And risk getting food poisoning... I think not." Adele laughed, making Luca shake his head as he walked into the living room with Neveah and Tyler. He was worried the women would cause trouble, but they seemed happy to be away from their husbands, and he could see they loved their big sister. Charles just needed to be out of the way.

Adele was happy her mother and her sisters were free of Charles. The man was a psychopath and cared nothing about his wife or daughters. She thought it was bad to learn he was trying to kill her, but after his death, they learned he had hits out for Charlotte and Olivia, and like her, they were worth at least 12 million apiece. He was sick, and she couldn't be happier he was dead. But all this overwhelmed her, and she needed some time to herself, but the soft sounds of her mom's footsteps ruined it.

"Yes, Mom?"

"We need to talk... there are some things you need to know." She spoke quietly, making Adele look up confused. If she was there for an apology, there was no need. "About?"

"Your Dad."

"Nope I don't want to hear it; the bastard is dead, and that's the end of that story. I'm sorry you had to go through hell, but talking about or trying to justify his actions isn't the answer. He abused us, Mom, and all we did was love him. I understand I was a mistake—"

"YOU WERE NEVER A MISTAKE! You weren't a mistake, Baby. It was a mistake to have you by him... never mind." Adele wanted to know what the hell she was talking about, but once she looked down. She knew Barbra wasn't about to speak of it again.

"I wasn't your mistake, but I sure the hell was his, but he's dead, and now I can move pass that part of my life. It would help if you did the same. Although I do have a question for you. Did you know about these?" Adele questioned, placing the insurance policies on the counter as Barbra slowly picked them up reading them as Adele watched her expression change.

"He had this on us... that dirty bastard. No, I didn't know about these. Charles was sick..."

"Your father and I tried to tell you this, Barb. About that time, the man already had a hold on you. You were the psych student, but you allowed him to use it against you. Charles was eight years older and already had three dead wives and their insurance money; still, he didn't have enough money to pay his way through college. He saw a rich black woman and took advantage. That was our fault; we didn't teach you not to let people use you."
