You Shouldn't Even Have to Ask

Axel was curious. He wanted to know what made his brother step out on a good woman. Greta did nothing but love him, and he decided to sleep with her no-good sister. Luzia and Lina hated Greta, and he knew she couldn't stand that her big sister had a so-called good man. It pissed him off, since Axel looked up to Otis, and then he turned and did this. Axel knew he wasn't a good person but tried to make up for it. He did everything he could to ensure Luca didn't turn out like him, and it worked once he convinced him to get help after bringing Adele home.

"You wouldn't understand—"

"Try me." Otis sighed loudly as he wiped his hands down his face. He didn't want to talk about it, but Axel didn't give a damn. He wanted answers because Otis was better than this. "Greta and I had a big fight... shit, I don't even remember what it was about now. I left to get some air; the first place I thought to go was your home. Except you weren't there. You were in Italy with your little secret family. I should have left, but I stayed and had a drink, which ended with me spilling my feelings all over the floor about the problems Greta and I were having."

Axel scoffed, shaking his head. He knew that was the wrong move because Luzia and her twin fed off others' misery. "The next thing I knew, I was drunk and in the bed with her. I went home the next day and tried to put the night behind me... It was your wife, and you know how she was. Two months later, she came to me saying she was pregnant. I told her to get rid of it... she threatened to tell Greta and tell him about Luca and Obioma. I agreed to her terms to protect my nephew and told Greta the truth."

"But you didn't come to me." Otis shrugged as his eyes found Adele's. Like Axel and Luca, she didn't say a word as they waited for him to answer. "She asked me not to. I don't know if it had something to do with cheating with me or getting under your skin. Then she disappeared with Lina until she had the babies...."

"Wait... wait, what do you mean, babies?" Axel questioned as Otis tilted his head. All this time, they thought it was only Saxon they were dealing with, making Axel wonder if this was all Saxon and Mila or was someone else in the mix. "Yeah, Luzia had identical twin boys and told me she got rid of them but gave them to Lina. Three years later, she died and left me to clean up her mess. Again, I was blackmailed into paying her to keep her mouth shut. I know you didn't love Luzia, but I feel horrible about what I did. I wanted to be the big brother you looked up to, but I failed. I'm sorry, little brother... you couldn't live the life you wanted with Obioma and how I lied to you."

Axel wouldn't have given a damn about Otis sleeping with Luzia if Greta wasn't in the picture, but he understood why he thought he had failed him. How their father was wasn't Otis's fault, and he had a chance to get things right. If he stopped letting his ego get in the way. Axel loved Obioma, but somehow he kept fucking up, finding himself in messed up situations as if he was a teenager thinking with his dick. However, he nodded at Otis, allowing the man to stand. Axel did the same, but as he started to leave, Luca grabbed his arm, pulling him into a hug while Adele tapped his shoulder, pointing at Otis. 

Without a thought he made his way over to his brother, pulling the man into a hug as Sibylla walked in looking confused. "What did you do?"

"Why do you sound so shocked, Mother?"

"I could never get the four of you to make up this fast, but Adele trapped the two of you in a room and the next thing I know, you're hugging it out. What did you do?" Adele shrugged with a smile, causing him and Otis to laugh as they hugged their mom. "I didn't do anything. They did it themselves; you know they're not children anymore."

Sibylla glared at the girl in disbelief while Adele laughed, but Sibylla was right. They did fight like cats and dogs growing up, and she used to beat their asses for it. Now they were older and understood that talking things out was the right way. "She's something else but special to me and Luca. Adele, thank you."
