The twins were two weeks early but in good health, which was what Adele and Luca hoped for. She was also good after having a c-section; although she wanted a natural birth, the only thing she could think of was her babies and a healthy delivery, which she got. Now Adele was back in her room after staying in recovery for an hour holding Nevaeh while Luca held Heaven. Both were overjoyed, smiling, feeding their angels as the door flung open, revealing Axel, Obioma, Sibylla, and Erik, who held balloons and two big ass pink teddy bears.
"Really? Don't you think that's a little too much?" Adele laughed, causing Axel and Erik to give her stern looks as they sat them down. Obioma and Sibylla have other plans as they head toward them and the babies. Axel tried to beat his mother to the punch but quickly knocked her son to the floor, taking Heaven with a huge smile.
"Damn, Dad, you got tackled by a seventy-one-year-old woman over a baby." Luca laughed, helping his father up after handing Heaven's bottle. Sibylla knew she was being extra, so out of courtesy, she handed Axel the baby with a smile. "Thank you, Mother... but you know we're fucking mad, right? You could have a least call..."
"It slipped my mind, Dad. Everything was moving so damn fast, and the next thing I knew they were here." Luca explained while Obioma sat beside Adele, kissing her on the cheeks smiling. "There's no need to be sad, Axel. Our grandbabies are here, and they are beautiful like their mother and father."
Adele nodded, and Luca did the same. She knew Axel was upset because he wanted to be there when they were born. He knew he couldn't be in the room but wanted to be near, which Adele understood, but as Luca explained. There was too much happening to remember to call, and the only thing that mattered was they were here, healthy and alive.
"I wanted to know the names of my nieces'. That's all I care about." Erik spoke, playing with Neveah's hand while Luca's mother held her. "My Mom is holding Neveah, and Dad has Heaven." Axel smiled, kissing Heaven's head while Obioma repeated Neveah's holding her close.
"I love them. Their names are just as beautiful as they are." Obioma smiled, kissing Neveah's hair again while Axel seemed to be in his own little world. "You don't like the names, Dad?"
"What? No, I love them... It's not their names." He paused as he stood, walking over to his mother, handing her the baby as he turned back to Luca, pulling him into a hug. "I love the names, son. I thought I would never see this day. Or live to see it. You and Adele gave me the best gift a grandfather could ask for— I'm proud of you and the man you became. I'm sorry I lied to you about your Mom, and I'm happy Dele figured it out so she could witness what I'm feeling now."
"Axel quit being a bitch."
"Is it a crime to be proud of my boy?" He asked as Sibylla turned her attention back to the baby, cooing as if she could do it back. On the other hand, Adele perched herself up in the bed while Tyler came and laid on her shoulder, sucking his thumb. He was jealous, and so was Josephine, who was across her legs watching Obioma and Sibylla smile down at the twins.
However, all of this made Adele smile. This was her family, although she wished she had her little brother and mother with her. Still, these were the people who took her in without a question. She could argue Luca could have taken her a better way, but if he didn't, she could have been dead. Dele knew she had to do whatever it took to protect them and knew they would do the same. It was sad to think all her father wanted from her was money to settle his stupid debt.
"Liebe, think about the twins, Josephine, Tyler, and us; nothing else. The rest can wait." Luca said, breaking her free from the many thoughts running through her mind. "Now, who's reading thoughts? Some things are hard to put to the side, Luca. We need to find Mila and Saxon. Victor needs to know they have been using him— plus, we don't know his involvement in this. What will happen when they find out I had the babies? They could start planning again. We might have moved, but who's to say Mila wasn't watching us."
