It was June 18th, four days after graduation and most of the kids were already gone or preparing to leave. Tamir, Daewon, and Yae'Shawn were meeting the recruiters next month and King agreed to let Reign go with them so she could meet the Dean and advisors before registering for her classes so he could pay for her room and other expenses.

Kaari started her job the other day and so far has been enjoying it. King had a gift for them that he wanted to give in August but if Kaari continued to do good he may give it to them early.

Ava, Kairo and Assyria's last day of school was tomorrow but Renae and King were thinking about just letting them stay home. Zaire already told Kwan he was going all week because he wanted to talk with his friends before he left to go back to Jamaica to spend it with Mrs. Capri.

It was a little after twelve, also the first day of Karen's treatment and she was extremely nervous but had King there.

"How come you never told me you and pops had friends outta state?" He asked. Meeting Fatima and Lamar really had him wondering about a lot of things.

"We parted ways, we kept in contact through phone conversation and letters," she informed.

         "Are they good people?"

"Yes, they are. I should have told you about dem but it slipped my mind when your father started doing drugs," she admitted and he nodded.

"How long were pops and Lamar cool?" He asked and she stared off trying to remember.

"I think they met in passing, they both served somewhere down tha' line," she answered then started coughing.

Grabbing the cup of water, he handed it to her and rubbed her back.

"If I get through dis... whew... remind me to go upside your head for dis torture," she laughed trying to catch her breath and he smiled softly.

"I'll squat down just so you can do it," he chuckled and she smiled then messed wit the IV.

"Stop," he moved her hand and she sighed.

"They said I'll feel weak... I didn't think it'll be so soon," she mumbled grabbing the cup.

"It's tha' drugs, mama, let your body get used to em," he told her as he stared up at the tv.

Leaning into him, she closed her eyes and took a deep breath. "Micah,"

"I don't want to hear it, you're gonna beat dis," He said.

"If I don't.... lay me next to your father ok?"

Ignoring her, he continued to stare at the tv and she sighed.

         "I'm sorry... I shouldn't be saying dis,"

        "You shouldn't," he simply replied.

"You gotta tell Z-bug, son," she said.

         "No,"

        "Kingston,"

"What did I just say?" He rose a brow staring at her.

"Fine," she shook her head laying back and stared at the tv.

"I'll start losing hair soon... then my weight," She mumbled.

"Are you trying to upset me? I'm not telling her or anyone else. Focus on you, stop worrying about everyone else," he stressed.
