It was May 17th, the day that King and Renae were supposed to renew their vows but plans changed. The sun was peeping over the clouds but the skies were still dreary just like it's been since Renae's condition was revealed.

The kids wanted to remain as close to her as possible and after doing a lot of arguing with the administrators, King managed to get the kids school work sent home so that they could finish out the remainder of the year online.

It wasn't much that they would even have to do, this month and June would be for exams and SOLs and with careful consideration, the teachers agreed to allow the kids to take theirs online just as long as they did it virtually so that they could be monitored.

It had to have been no earlier than eight in the morning when King heard the bedroom squeak. Moving his arm from his face, he squinted towards the door until his vision cleared and he noticed the twins standing in the doorway with stuffed animals.

He didn't have to ask, he already knew Kairo relayed the news, he knew how his kids could be and couldn't get mad because that's how they were raised.

Without saying anything, the twins rushed over and crawled on the bed and squeezed in between him and Renae as if they were kids again.

"Happy anniversary, Daddy," Reign gave him the red stuffed teddy bear and he smiled thanking her.

Kaari moved closer into Renae and played in her hair. She's been quiet since they received the news, but Reign knew how bad she was taking it.

"How are yuh feeling?" they asked lowly and he shrugged.

"No way... don't have tha' right to," he admitted.

Reign wrapped her arms around Renae and stared at a glossy-eyed Kaari then smiled softly. Looking away, Kaari directed her attention back on Renae and began to outline her features, wanting to treasure her in every way.

Checking the time, King sat up and decided to leave them alone as he headed into the bathroom to get himself together. Renae didn't have to start her second round of chemo until another two weeks but she still had to undergo radiation and that was where a lot of her problems occurred.

She was supposed to get the radiation during her chemotherapy but they realized her body couldn't handle any more damage. Little did she know, he made note of everything that had a negative impact on her body.

After his shower, he brushed his teeth and washed his face then went back into the room to get his clothes only to find Reign and Kaari asleep with their arms around Renae. It was the simple sight that caused reality sink in and it hit him like a ton of bricks; he would be selfish if he were to leave this earth, stripping them away from both parents.

It was at that moment when he realized that he needed to get Renae to fight, it was going to be a long road but just like he needed her to breathe, their kids needed both parents to function.

"Is your body getting used to the drugs yet?" Bryson asked Renae as she laid in the hospital bed receiving her infusions.

"Not really... they're strong," she mumbled staring at the IV.

King and Dajon were sitting on the other side of the room talking amongst themselves, just to give Bryson equal privacy.

"Did you tell your doctor or King?"

"Yeah... the guy said that he gave me the high dosages to get my body familiar with things quicker... it's just... I feel like it's killing me faster," she whispered and Bryson moved closer towards her and frowned.
