It had been a few hours since they caught the case, they had a suspect that Atwater and Burgess were bringing in. He was seen to have been lingering near a group of girls that the 2 victims were with. The bar tender remembered because it was unusual for a middle aged man to be hanging around the bar.
Voight walked into the bullpen pointed at Erin and Jay. "You too interrogate the suspect"
Jay and Erin nodded as they looked at each other and walked towards the interrogation room. The room was completely quiet as the two walked away, they knew there was a lot of tension between them and this was either going to bring them closer or start up world war 3.
Erin spoke first "John Matthews, where were you last night?"
John "oh detective why all serious?? What didn't get any last night?"
Jay shot up from his chair slapping his hands on the table raising his voice "she asked where you were last night, don't play stupid"
A couple of the others were standing behind the mirror watching the interrogation. As Jay shot from his seat hank spoke up "good he still has her back"
John "okay calm down, I went to a bar for a couple drinks"
Jay "by yourself?"
John "yes by myself, I had had a few beers earlier in the night with a couple old friends from college but they left early, I stayed out had a couple extras and walked home"
Erin pulling out the photos of the girls from the file "do you recognise these 2 girls?"
John "what's this about?"
Erin "they were tortured, one left dead on the pavement and the other throw into the trash like nothing"
John "I want a lawyer"
Erin sat back in her chair rolled her eyes "get comfortable"
The both got up and walked out, they both knew he was good for it. Erin felt like it was old times but that slowly faded as Jay quickly walked away from her to the whiteboard shaking his head.
"So we both know he'a good for it so what have we got to pin on him?" Halstead shouted
Kim slammed the phone down while sitting at her desk "it's him ballistics just came back his finger prints are all over them"
After they made the arrest, an easy one at that, usually it doesn't go that easy but the perp obviously had never done this before that's why it was so sloppy and easy to prove.
Hank stood at the front waiting for everyone to listen "we had a good day today, we all know it usually doesn't go as well as that. Obviously it never gets any easier with what we do but at least we got this guy before he could hurt anyone else. Now everyone go home we don't know what lies for us tomorrow"They all started to pack up there things and slowly started to leave, a couple of them were going to Molly's. "Hey Erin, you coming to Molly's for a beer?" Ruzek shouted while walking down the stairs.
"Uh yeh maybe, just gotta do a couple things then I might see you's there" she smiled back at him while she looked around. Halstead had left before everyone because he didn't want to get stuck talking it out with Erin. Ruzek, Atwater, Upton and Burgess all said goodbye to Lindsey as they took off to their local bar for a drink.
