It was the middle of July, one of the hottest days they had experienced. Voight found Erin in the break room with a bag of ice resting on her back and her head in the freezer.
"Hey kiddo" he watched her as she stepped backwards shutting the freezer door.
"The A/C broke again, Jay hasn't had time to fix it and every god damn company is too busy too."
"Huh" he poked his head out into the bullpen and yelled for Jay to join them, Jay slowly got up while looking at the team confused "Yes, what's up Sarge?"
"So Jay, today's a bloody hot day, it's only suppose to get hotter and Erin tells me that the A/C in your apartment isn't working. Just wondering why you haven't tried to fix it yet? I don't think you should be letting your wife and son live in those conditions" Voight said in a stern voice "So go home and get it done" he then walked back to his office.
Jay turned to Erin giving her a look as to why she told him anything "Well thanks for that," he sighed as he placed a kiss on her forehead "Best I get to it then before he tells me how bad of a husband and father I am."
She grabbed his hand as he tried walking away from her "Hey, he knows how good of a husband and father you are but that isn't going to stop him from looking out for me. Your part of the family now Jay, he's just busting your balls." She chuckled a little before giving him a smile.
"Yeh you wouldn't be saying that if you were me, he's kinda scary," he grabbed the door handle, but before he opened it he turned to look at her "But hey, I won't complain at least I can finally sort it out. I love you, I will see you later."
"Love you too." She replied as she watched him leave.
Erin walked out and over to Kevin "Yo Atwater, let's go for a drive." He got up and followed her out.
They were driving in the car for about 10 minutes when Kevin looked over at Erin who was driving "So Linds, what are we doing exactly?"
"Um should be right up here" she pointed out the window as she pulled up to a little cafe. "I will be back in a sec." she smiled and got out of the car. Kevin just sat there confused. After about 15 minutes she got back into the car with burgers "Here take these." She passed them over to Kevin who still sat confused in the passenger seat.
"These smell great, but why did we randomly come and get these?"
"Because I have been dreaming about them for the last two weeks. I ate them all the time when I was pregnant with Noah so after a while Jay got sick of the smell and taste of them so we haven't had them in a while, and I thought seeings though he left early today, why not."
"You are one sneaky lady. But I will not complain." Kevin said while he chuckled to himself as Erin proceeded to drive back to the district.
When Erin and Kevin walked in with burgers everyone was over the moon and quickly piled around to grab one while thanking Erin, wasn't very often they got to sit around eating burgers. Erin decided to stay back late and catch up on paperwork seeings though Jay was home and had already picked Noah up. Once it hit 7pm she called it quits and organised to have a drink with Hailey.
