Jay and Hailey got out of the car and couldn't believe their eyes. Jay quickly rushed over to Matt who was talking to Chief Boyden.
"Hey guys, what the hell happened here? What can we do?" Jay said as he looked around.
"Witness say that blue station wagon came flying through here like a maniac, we called you guys down because the man driving isn't anywhere to be found and there was a girl in the trunk. She was alive, barely so they took her to med" Matt said as he walked over to the station wagon with Jay and Hailey.
"Okay thanks Casey, we'll take it from here. Was there any casualties?" Jay said as he started looking around the car.
Casey shook his head and walked away. Thankfully there wasn't, many were injured but no one died. As they started searching the car the rest of the team arrived.
Voight walked over to Jay "What do we have?"
Jay "Witnesses told fire that they saw a male driving this station wagon like a maniac. He must have gotten out and ran because he's nowhere to be found, we have patrol searching the area. Also there was a female victim in the trunk, she was alive but they took her to med"
Voight "Okay you and Upton go to med to talk to the victim, Burgess and Atwater you guys make sure you get witness reports from everyone here! The rest of us will get back to the district"
Jay and Hailey walked into med and were greeted by Will "Hey bro, Hailey. So your victim is Jenna Matthews, 24" They all started walking towards her room as Will filled them in on her injuries "There are signs of rape but she wouldn't let us do a rape kit and we can't force it on her"
Hailey nodded "Thanks Will we will take it from here" They entered the room slowly "Hey Jenna, I'm Detective Upton and this is Detective Halstead, we just want to ask you a few questions if you are up to it?"
She nodded as she slowly turned her head towards them, she had bruises all over her, her eyes were swollen and her lips cut "Yeh that's okay"
Jay stepped towards her "Do you remember how you ended up in the back of that trunk?"
She nodded as tears fell from her eyes, Jay took a breath he felt horrible for her "Take your time"
Jenna "Um I finished work last night, I work at a bar. I have to make the extra cash after classes to pay for college. I started walking to my car and that's all I remember until I woke up in that trunk, I'm sorry"
Hailey "Don't be sorry, you have nothing to be sorry about" she stopped for a moment "Did you happen to see the man that done this to you?" She shook her head "Okay, now Jenna the doctors said that you refused a rape kit. Now I know how difficult this must be for you but this could help us find who done this to you"
Jenna "Okay I will do it"
Jay "Is there anything else you can tell us? Did you notice anything unusual lately? Anyone you know that would do something like this to you?" She shook her head "Okay that's fine, look we are going to do everything we can to find this guy you have my word"
Jay and Hailey both walked out and told Will she was up for doing the rape kit and to get the results to them as soon as possible. With that they went back to the district. Everyone had been working for a few hours, looking at footage, running the plates on the car which come back as stolen, there was no traces of DNA in the car either.
Atwater stood up from his chair "Guys I got something" everyone rushed over "Okay finally got a hit from camera footage two blocks out from the crime scene. There you can see the drivers face" quickly Kim ran it through face recognition "Okay Terry Withers, 32 no priors" Kim interrupted Atwater "Son of a bitch"
Voight "What?"
Kim shook her head "I spoke to him at the scene"
Voight "So the prick never run off he just blended in with everyone else, okay get a location on him now and see if you can find anything that links him to Jenna"
Jay hung up his phone "That was Will, no DNA was found, she was brutally raped but a condom was worn so nothing" he slammed his fists down "We gotta get this guy"
Kim "Okay we got a location"
Voight "Okay, gear up"
They all stood out the from of the house as they made a plan. As they were just about to breach the suspect started running down the alley. Jay and Adam started chasing them, as they caught up to him, Jay went to take him down but the guy was a lot more experienced then Jay anticipated leaving Jay on the ground spitting out blood, he got back up and continued to chase him, he finally caught up to him again and jumped on him, by this point Adam was helping Jay cuff him as well, Adam looked up at Jay "You alright man" Jay nodded out of breath.
The all got back to the district, Hailey told the team that they discovered a pair of panties that had Jennas DNA on them and that he had cuts on his necks which had Jennas DNA as well "Righto we got the son of a bitch" Voight pointed at Jay "You can go do the honours" Jay went and put him in lock up and then returned to fill in the rest of paperwork to close the case.
Jay got him and put his jacket on the hooks near the door then walked towards the kitchen were he saw Erin cooking, she turned around and saw him with a slightly swollen eye "Hey what the hell happened to you?" He shook his head and smiled "You know, typical day nothing to worry about" she laughed "Jay I worry" she chucked him a bag of peas of of the freezer "Here otherwise you won't be able to see through it tomorrow" he smiled "Thanks Babe" after chatting about the case they both ate and called it a night.
As they were laying in bed Jay could tell Erin was still awake, he turned around to look at her "What's on your mind?" She sat up and turned the light on "I have made a decision" Jay sat up as well and rested his hands on his knees "Okay shoot" she took a deep breath "When Noah is 6 months old I want to come back to intelligence, but I want to make it clear to Hank that if I think at anytime a bust is going to be too risky I won't put myself in that situation" Jay nodded and smiled at her "I don't think Hank would want it any other way" she looked into her hands and she rubbed them close together "You don't think I'm a bad mum that I want to go back to work do you?" "Of course not! Erin you are a great mum, Noah is so lucky to have you, it's completely normal to go back to work" she smiled at Jay as she rested on his shoulder "Yeh I guess your right, I'm just going to miss seeing the little guy everyday" she could feel Jay breathing as he rubbed her back "How do you do it?" "I don't know I just do, but that little guy is what makes me work so much harder to find the bad guys because now I know how so many parents feel, love" she looked up into his eyes "I love you so much" he began kissing her "I love you too"
