Erin was on her way back to the hospital, she'd freshened up and had something to eat. She thought surprising Jay with Noah would lighten up his dad. He had been missing his daddy.
She walked in the ED holding Noah on her hip, baby bag on the other, she wasn't exactly walking it was more of a waddle. Voight was standing at the vending machine, he turned around and rushed over to them.
"Hey Noah! Are you excited to see daddy?" He asked as he grabbed Noah from Erin and swung the baby bag onto his shoulder.
"Hi gwandpa, yes" he started clapping.
"How's Mumma feeling?" He looked over to Erin as they started walking towards the elevator and up to the ICU.
"Ask me that after I have popped this kid out"
They both chuckled and stepped into the elevator.
Jay was flicking through channels when he saw his family walk in, Noah near jumped out of Voight's hands when he saw him.
"Hey little man!"
"Noah you have to be gentle okay, daddy is sore" Erin said as Voight slowly placed Noah onto the bed.
"Daddy sore" Noah said grabbing Jays face.
"Yeah daddy's sore, but it's okay. I'm okay" Jay said as he poked at Noah's stomach making him laugh.
Erin groaned and fidgeted as she sat down on the chair next to Jay making him look at her with a concerned look "Er, you okay?"
"Yeah I'm okay" she nodded.
"Mummy fell over today" Noah said playing with Jays fingers being completely oblivious.
Jay and Voight both looked at Erin as she kept mouthing she was fine, Jay made eyes at Voight.
"Hey Noah, do you want to go grab a candy bar?"
"Yes pwease!" He nodded and smiled as Voight put him down on the ground and held his hand slowly walking out of the room.
"Erin"
"Jay it's fine, nothing happened" She smiled grabbing his hand.
"Erin you fell over, what happened? It's not nothing" he said with a concerned look.
"I was just a little lightheaded and lost me feet"
"So it's my fault? If I didn't get myself in this situation this wouldn't have happened" he rubbed his hands on his face.
"Jay! Please stop saying that. What were you suppose to do? It's not like you done it on purpose"
He rolled his eyes and put his hand on her stomach "Can you please just get an ultrasound to make sure everything's okay?"
Erin was about to speak up when Will walked in "Hey guys, sorry to interrupt I can come back?"
"No actually it's good your here. We need a favour" Jay said as he gazed at Erin "Erin was lightheaded this morning and fell, just wondering if you'd be able to do an ultrasound to make sure everything's okay?"
"Jay it's not..."
Will interrupted Erin "Erin it's a good idea, after everything with Noah I think it's best to check it all out"
She sighed and nodded as she got up, she bent over a kissed Jay "You worry too much"
"Someone's gotta worry Erin" he said as he kissed her back.
Erin was laying down on the bed waiting for Will to come in. He came in and stood next to her and put some jelly on her belly and started the ultrasound. It was quiet for a few seconds and then loud and clear as day a heartbeat.
"There she is" Will smiled after Erin "Everything still looks fine, healthy" he rolled the machine out of the way and wiped Erins belly "But can I just say something without my head being bit off?"
She nodded "You need to take better care of yourself, I know what you just went through is hard but it's not just you that you need to worry about, okay?"
"Yeah I know, now let's go tell Jay everything's" she smiled and got up.
Erin walked in and saw Jay playing with Noah, Voight was sitting next to them. She couldn't help but smile, she leant in the doorway and rested her hands on her stomach.
Jay looked up and saw her "Everything okay?" She could hear the worry in his voice.
"Still a nice strong heartbeat, baby girl is healthy" she said walking over.
Noah stood up from the bed and hugged Erin, mostly just hugging the bump. She rustled her fingers through his hair.
They stayed for a couple hours and talked and let Jay have some time with their son, Dr Rhodes came in and said he needed to stay a couple more days in hospital and then he need four weeks on desk duty with rehab for his shoulder before going back to work full time. After he walked out Jay wasn't exactly impressed, but Voight made it clear that that's how it was going to go, he wanted to make sure he was 100% before he got back out there.
"Hey we will be on desk duty for a couple weeks together before I go on maternity leave, so at least you get to look at my pretty face"
He sighed and smiled, she could tell he wasn't happen "Okay Noah say goodbye to daddy, I think it's time to get you home and in bed. What do you think?"
"No" Noah sat there shaking his head as he clung onto Jay.
"Noah please?"
"No. No. No" Erin could tell he was about to throw a tantrum.
"Noah you go with mummy, you can see me again tomorrow? I will be out in a few days and then I will take you for ice cream okay?" Jay said to Noah as he watched him nod his head.
"Okay buddy, come on then." Voight said as he picked him up "See you Halstead, it will be good to have you back so rest up and take it easy"
