It had been a couple months since Erin and Jay had moved in together. Everything was going well.
They were walking down a back street in a rough neighbourhood after making an arrest. Erin couldn't stop looking at Jay smiling as she rested her hands on her hips.
Erin "We live together"
Jay "Yep" he started smiling "Once again"
Erin "Just want to check in, how are you? Are you happy?"
Jay "Couldn't be happier, you?"
Erin "Me too" she paused "There's nothing bothering you?"
Jay "No everything's good on my end, you?"
Erin "Yeh no everything's good" she paused again "I mean there is one thing"
Jay "Oh boy" as he looked at her with a smirk and a raised eyebrow
Erin "No it's not you, it's me. It's my thing" she chuckled "I usually sleep with a lot of pillows and you know I like to cuddle with you when we go to sleep"
Jay "Okay" looking confused as they walked up to there car "How many pillows we talking?"
Erin "Well two under my head, one for me to angle, one pulled into my chest"
Jay "So 4?" Raising his eyebrows and leaning on the roof of the car
Erin "Um 6, because I like to have two ready in case I roll over in my sleep"
Jay "Okay got it" nodding
Erin "I just didn't want to pull them out of the closest incase you felt..."
Jay "Walled off?" Letting a tiny chuckle out
Erin "Yeh"
Jay "Erin I'm going to tell you what I would tell you a year from now. Two years from now, Twenty years from now... Do your thing babe" He smiled as he opened the door
Erin "Your amazing"
Jay "Oh yeh" he winked at her and they both got in driving away.
Back at the district everyone was finishing up paperwork. Voight came out of his office. "Drinks on me tonight everyone, see you at Molly's"
Ruzek "Well I don't know about you's but I think that's an invite to get drunk, boss is paying. See everyone there I hope!"
Upton, Atwater and Burgess "Hell yeh we are in"
Everyone else agreed they were in. Jay smiled. This was it. He looked at Erin and walked over to her "I gotta go do a couple things first and then I will be there are you right to get a lift with someone?"
Erin "Yeh sure Jay, everything good?" She was slightly confused
Jay "Everything's great babe, trust me" he smiled and kissed her cheek "See you soon"
Later on at Molly's, everyone was drinking and having a good time. Erin was sitting with Will and Hailey waiting for Jay.
Erin "Where the hell is he?" She had left like 4 messages and he still hadn't replied.
Hailey "Trust me Erin he's gunna be here"
Will "Look here he comes"
She walked over to him and pulled him aside "What the hell Jay? You had me worried! Talk to me is something going on?"
Jay "Erin everything's fine okay, I'm just going to grab a beer okay" walking over to the bar as he nodded at Hermann
Everything went dark besides some twinkly fairy lights that lit up where Erin was standing. Erin turned around to see Jay on one knee and her entire family and friends watching.
Erin "Jay..."
Jay "Erin Lindsay, from the moment I met you I haven't been able to stop thinking about this moment. We have definitely had our hard times but we have had many good ones to make up for them. From continually getting told that we had to stay away from each other it only made me love you more. I lost you for a while and I was never able to fill the hole you left. I don't know how long we will be partners for but I know for damn sure I want you in my life for the rest of mine. I love you Erin so I guess I'm asking will you do the honour in marrying me?"
Erin "Thought you'd never ask" she let out the biggest smile "Yes Jay Halstead I will marry you" he got up slipped the ring on her finger and picked her up for him to kiss.
The entire room was filled with cheers and claps. Everyone congratulated the two with hugs and handshakes. No one could be happier for them.
"Jay, Erin. You's got a sec? Voight said from behind them
Jay "Sure sarge" they followed him over to a table as they sat down.
Voight "Well Jay I think I have to say this is the probably the biggest time you have ever disobeyed a direct order from me. Yet it's probably the most proud I have ever been of you. You've made me proud, I know you will treat her right. So congratulations to you both" Hank raised his glass
Erin got up and gave Hank a hug "Thanks Hank" Jay shaking Voight's hand "I won't let her down sarge you have my word"
