It was the morning after Jay had proposed to Erin. Erin was slowly waking up next to Jay as the sun was beaming through the window making her ring shimmer.
Erin rolled over and nestled her head into Jay holding her hand up into the light "I still can't believe it, feels like a dream"
Jay "I can certainly tell you it wasn't a dream" pulling her in for a kiss "So how you feeling about soon becoming Mrs Halstead?"
Erin "I am looking forward to it, but" she sat up and looked at Jay "I don't want to rush the wedding, I don't really want a big wedding and for work I still want to be Erin Lindsay" she clenched her teeth because she wasn't sure what Jays reaction would be
Jay "Okay big wedding isn't for me either so that's fine.The Erin Lindsay at work thing is fine because if we were still in the same unit having two Halsteads would certainly be confusing" he chuckled "But the not rushing it part? Idk I feel like the sooner the better"
Erin slowly getting out of bed "Okay well can we just put a pin in it for a while and think? I just wanna be Jay Halstead"s fiancé for a little bit" raising her eyebrows towards him
Jay "Well fiancé how bout you get your butt back into bed and cuddle with me for a little bit" he tried to pull her back in.
Erin "Jay we need to get ready for work, so down boy" she laughed and teased him by stripping as she walked into the bathroom for a shower "But I'm not saying we can't get ready together"
Jay jumped out of bed "Oh man"
Back at the 21st they were all chasing down leads for a suspect of a young boy that was murdered. These were always the tough ones. They were getting close to solving it tho. Jay saw Erin in the break room so he walked in to chat to her.
Erin turned around to see Jay "Oh hey there you I feel like I haven't seen you all day"
Jay "Yeh it's been good" she raised her eyebrows at him giving a blunt look "I'm kidding, calm"
Erin "You better be" as she went to punch him in the stomach playfully.
Jay "So before you get back to what you were doing I was thinking, because I noticed you didn't put your engagement ring on this morning"
Erin quickly stopped him "Hey I just don't want it to get lost or damaged and it's probably not a real good thing to be parading it around seeings tho we shouldn't really be engaged partners"
Jay "No I totally agree, so that's why I thought" as he handed her a chain "This is the chain I wore with my tags when I was a ranger on my tours in Afghanistan, I just thought you could put it on that if you wanted. You know so then you can still be wearing it but it's not noticeably and only the people that need to know, know. But it's completely up to you, and you can keep the tags on if you want or you can take them off its..." he started to talk quickly and nervously, this was a big thing for him.
Erin "Jay stop, it's perfect. I'd be honoured. Thankyou. But what happens when you have a ring that you need on a chain?"
Jay "Nah mine won't be as pretty and noticeable as yours so I will never be taking mine off" he quickly kissed her on the cheek and walked out.
That afternoon we arrested the suspect that had killed the young boy. He was a horrible man, we matched him up to a couple more unsolved cases we had years ago. At least we finally were able to bring those family's som peace of mind.
Erin was getting her things from the locker room when Upton walked in "Hey Hailey, how about we get everyone together tonight and go clubbing? I know it was a shit day but sometimes it's nice to just completely put it to the back of your mind, so what do you think?
Hailey "I think that's a really good idea, I'm so down I will message everyone, we doing boys as well or just the girl's??" She laughed
Erin "Hmm I don't know, maybe we have girl drinks first then meet up with the guys later in the night?"
Hailey "Yeh that sounds like a good idea, we need a little girl time theirs too much testosterone in here sometimes. I will see you later" She laughed and walked off
Back at Halstead and Lindsay's apartment. Erin started feeling abit shaking and woozey, she just shook it off and took some Panadol.
Jay "Hey babe, come on we gotta go. I will drop you off on the way"
Erin "Yeh I'm coming" She yelled as she walked out in a tight skinny jeans, heels and a top which showed a lot of cleavage.
Jay "Woah babe" Jay stood there gobsmacked "But come on Erin you look sexy as hell but you can't be wearing that I won't be able to keep them off you, and I won't even be there with you the whole time, who's going to protect you then from perves?"
Erin "Jay take a deep breath" as she held up her ring putting it on her finger "Look I'm wearing this, people will get the hint and since when do I need you to look after me. Remember I can look after myself. And it's nice to get free drinks and free entry sometimes" She winked at him and slapped his ass with her clutch. "Let's roll" Jay just shook his head laughing knowing that no matter what he said she was going to do what she wanted that's what he loved about her.
Jay pulled up to the bar the girls were going first "I love you, behave and I will catch up with you later"
Erin leant over and kissed him "Yeh yeh love you too"
