Erin walked into the district with her 6 month old on her hip. She was due to go back to work in a week. Noah was having another day of not wanting anyone but his dad. Erin tried everything to calm him but just decided going to see Jay might be just what he needs.
Platt noticed Erin walk in and before Erin could say anything Platt was right in front of her "Hey Erin! Hey little man, god he's turning into a spitting imagine of Jay, look at those freckles!" Erin smiled as she handed Noah over for a cuddle.
After they chatted for a little bit Erin spoke up pointing towards Noah "Look I really should go up and say hi to the rest of them, but now seeing how much he likes you I might just have to hit you up to babysit sometime" she winked at Trudy as she grabbed Noah and walked away, Trudy said bye and continued to wave to the little guy as they made their way upstairs.
As soon as Erin took Noah away from Trudy he started wailing again, as she got to the top of the steps everyone was looking at her "Hey everyone, that's one way to make an entrance isn't it?" She awkwardly let out a laugh as Voight walked over to her "Hey kiddo, how's my grandson going?" She just shook her head like she was defeated "This kid is going to drive me insane, I love him but boy am I keen to come back and deal with some people that are a little older and can talk" everyone laughed, she started looking around "Jay out?" Hank nodded "Here let me take him while you catch up with everyone" she nodded as she passed Noah over and Hank walked off. They had a little play mat set up in break room for when Erin bought Noah in to say hi.
After about half an hour of chatting, Jay walked up the steps and saw Erin sitting with Kim at Kim's desk. He walked over and hugged her "Hey Baby, what's up?" She raised her eyebrows "What can't I just come and see my man?" She sighed "Noah wasn't settling so I thought I'd bring him in to say hi" Jay smirked "Huh, so I'm his favourite then?" He watched as Erin gave him daggers "Kidding, obviously" he looked over to Hailey to help him out, she just held her arms up in defence "Girl code bro" Erin winked at her "Okay so where is my son?" And just as he said that Atwater walked out with him in his arms "God he is getting big" Jay started pulling faces at him "There's my little man!" Once Noah was in Jays arms he started sucking on Jays badge that was wrapped around his neck, Jay noticed Noah's rosey red cheeks "Erin his cheeks are pretty red have you checked his temperature?" "He's teething, hence why he is being so fussy" Voight walked up to Jay and Erin "Hey Jay, go home. If anything kicks off I will call you" They both looked at Voight and as Jay was about to say something he was cut off "Don't make me change my mind, looking forward to having you back next week to Erin" he gave Erins shoulder a squeeze and high fived the little guy and walked back into his office. Jay packed up his paperwork and started heading out the door saying goodbye to everyone. Everyone expressed how much they were looking forward to having Erin back.
A week later and Erin was standing in-front of the day care centre holding Noah tightly in her arms, she walked up and started to check him in. They explained to her that as soon as she passed him over that she should just leave and not turn back no matter how much he cried, but they ensured her that it wouldn't last long and he'd soon have fun without her. They also said that they would send hourly updates on how he was doing on his first day, with that she handed him to one of the workers and started to exit the centre. She could hear his cries but continued to walk, as soon as she got in her car she broke down, she knew it was going to be hard but she didn't think it would be this hard.
Once she got to the district she had stopped crying and fixed up her makeup before going in yet her eyes were still a little red, but she just figured everyone would assume she was tired. She walked in and said hi to everyone before entering Voights office.
Voight "Hey kiddo, it's good to finally have you back"
Erin "Yeh it is, it's going to be strange but I'm happy I'm back"
Voight "How did you go dropping the little guy off?"
Erin's eyes started tearing up "Oh boy" she started fanning her eyes with her hands "Tough, but he's happy. I just got this photo of him playing" she showed Voight the photo" he smiled "He's already forgotten about me"
Voight "He won't ever forget about to kid, he loves you, your a great mum" he paused "So now that your back, I want you partnered up with Atwater" she gave him a confused look, she just thought she'd go back to being partnered up with Jay "I'm only doing this because I don't want the two of you running into anything today incase something ever happened to the both of you, I'm just looking out for that little boy"
She smiled at him and got up "Thankyou Hank, it's good to be back"
After she walked out she went straight to the break room to get a coffee, she was finally able to drink normal coffee as she had stopped breastfeeding Noah. As she took a sip her eyes closed, she didn't realise how much she had missed it. Jay walked in and startled her as she was in her moment of bliss.
He starting laughing "Sorry I didn't realise you were" he paused "What were you doing?"
She laughed "I was just having a moment, I didn't realise real coffee tasted this good. I think I love it more then I love you right now"
Jay lifted an eyebrow "But can coffee do this" he lent in for a kiss, she sat the coffee cup down and put her hands on his chest slowly pushing him off her.
Erin "Jay just because I'm back at work doesn't mean you can do that"
Jay "Okay sorry, I have just missed you. So what happened in Voight's office? You seemed sad when you walked out?"
Erin "I was just telling him how it was dropping Noah off"
Jay stopped, he forgot all about Erin having to do that, he felt horrible "Babe I'm so sorry I didn't even ask. How did it go? You okay?"
Erin "Yeh I'm good, I didn't realise I could love someone so much, and giving him to people he barely knows is terrifying. But look he seems to be enjoying himself, they send me updates every half hour" she took her phone out of her pocket to show Jay the photos.
Jay "Hey it will get easier trust me" he kissed her on the forehead "Was that all?"
Erin "Hank isn't partnering us up with each other, he doesn't want to risk Noah being left with no parents. But I'm not worried, Hailey is great and I know she will have your back. I'm kinda thankful for it"
Jay "Who's your partner now then?"
Erin "Kev"
Jay nodded and walked out of the room over to Kevin. He sat on his desk and stared Kevin in the eyes "So I hear Erin is your new partner"
Kevin "Yeh I just got told of Voight, don't worry man you don't have to say it. I will have her back don't stress"
Jay "Thanks man, I know" They done a knuckle handshake as they saw Erin walking towards them.
Erin looked at Kev "Hey partner, you just got the jackpot with me"
Kevin got up and hugged her "It's great to have you back Lindsay"
