As they drive, the thunderstorm grows more wicked. The rain becomes thick and heavy, making it hard for Warren to drive. Anxiety eats at Katie.

"My parents died in a storm like this one." Katie comments, "Please pull over Warren, at least until it passes."

The brown eyed boy nods and pulls over to the side of the road. Katie shivers from the chill of the weather. She shifts in her seat and puts her icy hands between her thighs as she tries to get warm. Warren smiles at her.

"Why do girls do that?" Warren asks with a small smile.

"To make our hands warm." Katie arches a brow at him, "Why are you so calm? You just committed arson and murdered someone innocent."

Warren shakes his head. "Because none of them are innocent and they deserve it."

Katie's face scrunches up, her eyes cold. "You act as if you've met all of them."

Warren gives her a look before shaking his head. "Again with the Stockholm Syndrome! They are crooked thugs, okay? Their bad people who thieve and rob and murder innocent people with families."

Katie shakes her head, thinking about Rebel. "Not all of them are bad, Warren! They do what they do to survive!"

The brown eyed boy gives her a confused look, glaring. "By murdering?"

"It's not just murder!" Katie exclaims, "I was treated better than I was when I was with Uncle Gail! I was actually treated better than the rest of the gang!"

"Brainwashing." Warren rolls his eyes, "Typical."

Katie spots a jug of gasoline in the backseat floor board. She looks to Warren uneasy.

"Warren, how did you get the gasoline?" Katie asks cautiously.

"My uncle Ryan's mechanic shop." Warren casually shrugs, "I stole it with the matches."

"How did you know there was a hooker?" The blonde slowly inches away from Warren, not wanting to seem suspicious.

"Because one of the guys at the club left with one." Warren looks to Katie, "Are you still cold? I have the heat turned up."

"I-I'm fine." Katie says in a small voice, "What is your plans for when we get to your grandfathers beach house?"

Warren shrugs. "We change our names, get a story of why we moved there, get jobs, stay low for a while...I guess until it's safe again."

Katie slowly nods. "What if I don't want to?"

He gives her a confused look. "Why wouldn't you?"

"Ever since my parents death, I haven't been able to decide my life for myself." Katie shakes her head, her green eyes full of annoyance. "Then after that...that...asshole was killed right in front of me, my life is still being decided for me! By you and Lane! I'm tired of men telling me what to wear and what to eat and what I should or shouldn't do and basically run my life for me!"

Warren looks out at the heavy rain, being silent. He continues to listen to her as she speaks.

"Warren, you don't understand all that I've been through!" Katie exclaims, her voice rising as she speaks her heart. "I just want to be free and happy for once in my life! To make my own decisions and be who I want to be without a man telling me what should make me happy or what I'm supposed to be. It's tiring!"

"Who was that girl?" Warren blurts out, slowly looking to Katie.

Was he not even listening to me? The blonde mentally screams.

Katie gives him an annoyed look. "What girl?"

"At the gas station." Warren say casually, making Katie tense up. "Did you know her?"

The blonde shakes her head. "No..."

"She kept giving me dirty looks when she stepped out of the gas station." Warren sits back, "Seemed odd."

"I never seen her before in my entire life." The blonde shrugs, lying. "I guess she's one of those thugs you keep blabbing about."

"Maybe." He brown eyed boy smiles at her sweetly. "I guess I'm paranoid."

Suddenly, headlines flash behind them. Warren puts his hands on the wheel and looks up at the rear view mirror. Katie bites her lip, closing her green eyes.

"Oh shit..." Warren starts the Jeep up.

"What?" Katie looks over to him with an arched brow.

"It's them-" The brown eyed boy begins to put the vehicle in drive.

The sound of gunfire makes Katie jump, her heart racing. She looks at the side mirror, her eyes growing wide. She sees dark figures walking towards the passenger door. Fear fills Katie, making her cry out in fear.

"Oh, they're going to kill us!" Katie cries louder, "Warren, they're going to kill us!"

Suddenly, the windshield glass shatters. Katie screams loudly as Warren covers her with his body. Rain flows into the vehicle, splashing on both Katie and Warren. He holds her close to his chest as she continues to cry out in fear. The glass window on the drivers side smashes before the window on the right passenger side is shattered. Arms reach inside the car and opens the doors. Hands roughly grab Warren and drag him out of the car, dragging the blonde with him. Other hands in the passenger side grabs Katie and rips her from Warren's grasp.

Warren comes face to face with the biggest crime lord in all of Washington state. His cold, icy blue eyes stare down at the brown eyed boy dangerously. He shoves the boy into the Jeep, his nose bumping against Warren's.

"Don't. Take. What's. Mine!" Lane slams Warren's body against the vehicle, knocking the boy out.

Katie continues to scream in terror as she is dropped into the mud. She curls into a fetal position and covers her head and neck.

"Hey! It's okay! It's okay!" A familiar voice says to the blonde, "You're safe. We rescued you. It's okay."

Katie looks up to see Max's face that is covered in rain. The blonde embraces her friend, tears forming in her eyes.

"You didn't listen to me!" Katie sobs into Max's shoulder, "I didn't want to hurt him!"

Max lets her go, tugging her along. "Come on! Lets get back."

As they begin to walk, Lane appears from behind the Jeep. Katie stops, her green eyes staring wide at him. He stares back at her, his chest rising and falling heavily. His usually icy eyes like melted water.

"Lane..." Katie softly mumbles, fearful of what he could do to her.

Her head becomes light, her vision blurry. The blonde's body begins to sway. The last thing Katie feels and sees is Lane catching her limp body.
