The morning came quicker than Katie expected. Her sleeping quarters were with Rebel, who put a pillow between them. The blonde didn't sleep due to fear. She kept expecting something bad to happen. Katie even began to fantasize what it would be like if she managed to escape. But the fear kept her still.
Katie picked out an outfit for the day, making sure to keep her appearance neat and straight. Her uncle, Gail, had always made it a must to always present herself perfectly. No flaw in any part of her appearance. As the blonde stood there doing her makeup, she could see that her foundation couldn't hide the dark circles under her green eyes. Tightening her curled ponytail, Katie left the bathroom to join a waiting Rebel at the bedroom door. The girl had shook her head at the blonde's appearance.
Rebel continues to walk with Katie trailing behind her. "What a rich girl..."

The girls all walk into the kitchen. Katie stays behind, letting everyone else pile their paper plates with gravy and biscuit. The blonde was used to eating cereal for breakfast, due to her uncle wanting her to keep her figure.
Rebel turns to see a shy Katie. She smirks at the blonde.
"Is the food not fancy enough for you?" Everyone smirks at Rebel's comment.
"Oh!" Katie's cheeks turn light shade of pink at the thought of offending anyone, despite her current situation. "No, no! My uncle doesn't allow me to eat anything other than a bowl of cereal. He doesn't want me to gain too much weight."
Rebel and Max exchange a look. "You let a man decide what you eat? And how you look?"
Katie's cheeks turn an even brighter shade of pink, feeling even more embarrassed. She looks down at her flats, trying to find her voice. Her uncle never gave her room to speak, so she doesn't answer in fear of being talked over.
"Are all rich girls so pretentious about their looks?" Max snobs Katie, laughing afterwards.
Suddenly, everyone goes dead silent. Katie looks up at them, wondering if she had anything to to with it. But they all look beyond her. The blonde arches a brow, slowly turning around. She gasps at the sight of Lane's cold blue eyes staring straight at her. She begins to fidget under his hard state.
Feeling as if she were blocking his way, Katie scoots over so he can make his way inside the kitchen. Lane takes a step inside, but continues to unblinkingly stare at the blonde. Katie gives him a soft smile, trying to be kind, but Lane just looks away from her. His face stoney and cold. The blonde's soft smile fades.
Lane goes over to the stove where the gravy and biscuits have been made. Katie continues to stand beside the doorway shyly. The others all look between Lane and the blonde, all with different emotions.
Suddenly, a girl with dyed blonde hair and pink tips makes a bark like sound. Katie jumps, blinking quickly. She looks away as the others laugh at her. Anxiety emotionally eats the blonde alive, stealing what little strand of confidence she had left.
Lane lips the gravy off his fingertips, walking around the table to where the girl with rose pink tips sits. He continues to lick it off. Katie watches him in the corner of her eye in suspicion.
What is he doing? Katie mentally wonders.
Lane bends down and grabs the leg of the chair that belongs to the girl with rose pink tips. Her chin hits the table hard, falling to the floor in agony. Katie covers her mouth at the shock. Everyone rises from their seats, looking between Lane and the girl.
"What did I—" she begins.
"Shut up!" Lane shouts angrily, "Now get up off your ass before I do it for you."
Katie blushes at his profanity, he mouth slightly gaping. The blonde frequently heard her uncle Gail curse, but it always seems to shock her. She straightens up, looking down at her flats once again shyly.
Lane walks back to the shove and picks his plate up, opening a drawer beside the pantry for a spoon. He makes his way out of the room. He freezes at the doorway, looking at Katie with a stoney expression. His blue eyes quickly flicker up and down her body
"What's your name?" In Katie's ears, Lane's voice is laced with annoyance and heat.
The blonde blinks a few times, releasing a held breath. "K-Katie."
Lane's eyes meet hers briefly before walking out without another word. When Kate turns around, she sees hat everyone is looking at her.
The silence worsening her anxiety, Katie flashes a small smile. "Does anyone need a napkin?"
Hey readers! What do you think my my characters so far? What do you think of the story so far? JUST TO EXPLAIN, Katie was taught to be more "lady like" or to always appear that she is of "higher status". She's not snobby or anything like that. ALSO, she is very shy, sweet, kind, pure, and naïve. Remember this while you read!!! Enjoy the rest of your day and stay safe ❤️🙏🏼☺️
