"I was safe the entire time, wasn't I?" Katie slowly asks, "I'm not trying to be cocky or anything, I'm just asking."
Lane rolls his eyes as if it should already be obvious, looking back out onto the damp woods in annoyance. "What do you...

After dropping Katie off with Anastasia, Lane had Axel pull over for gas and to grab a bite to eat at the edge of town. Six hours later, they still remained in the sports bar across the gas station.
The crime lord remains silent, staring at the signed and framed hockey jersey hung up on the wall behind Axel. Te tattooed munches on onion rings and a greasy chicken sandwich, savoring every bite. Lane blinks every so often.
"Did I do the right thing?" He says out loud, his brows slightly furrowed.
"Not to rub it in, but it was your plan, Boss." Axel leans in closer to his boss, trying to speak over the loud cheering. "Everything went smoothly."
Lane nods, pushing back his messy hair. He had been running his hands through his hair while he sat there for all this time.
"Don't worry, Boss." Axel shakes his head at him, "It's going to be okay."
"It was our plan..." The crime lord nods, "but she ran after me."
"Of course she did." The tattooed man nods, "She didn't want you to leave her behind."
Lane rubs his tired face, guilt eating at him. His hands run through his hair. He looks down to see the untouched burger and fries he had ordered an hour and a half ago.
The crime lord frowns. "I can't eat this..."
"Take it with you." Axel nods to the waitress that had been waiting on them all afternoon, "We may be kicked out soon for staying as long as we have."
Suddenly, Max rubs up out of breath. She reeks of cigarette smoke.
"Boss..." Max puts a hand over her chest as she tries to catch her breath, "I saw...I-I saw..."
"You saw what? What did you see?" Lane arches a brow at her in annoyance, wrapping his burger up in the tin foiled paper. "Go ask that waitress for a to go box."
"Kid!" Max spits out, her hazel eyes watering. "I saw...the Kid..."
At the mentioning of her name, Lane's head shoots up. His eyes lock with Max's. His heart begins to pick up pace.
"We left her at that house, remember Max?" Axel arches his brow, "I think you're confused."
"She was dressed like she was...when we dropped her off..." Max finally catches her breath, putting her cigarette carton in her jacket pocket. "She's at the gas station across the street, Boss! She has her suitcase with her and everything."
Lane narrows his eyes at her in disbelief. "Are you sure?"
"Yes! Hurry! Before she gets away!" Max rushes the crime lord, panic in her hazel eyes.
Lane heavily sighs, sliding out of the booth. "Get a fucking to go box from the waitress while I go on a brief goose chase."
Axel nods to the crime lord as he casually puts his coat on. He follows Max to the exit. The tattooed man politely waves for the waitress to get her attention.
For an hour, Katie wondered around the streets of Seattle with her rolling suitcase trailing behind her. She had constant hunger pains, causing her to worrying about the life inside of her. Katie's didn't know where she was going or how long it would take to get there but she knew she had to make run for it immediately.
The blonde stopped at a gas station on her way out of the city. She hurried in from the cold, the squeaky sound of the wheels on her suitcase behind her. She nods to the young cashier, who eyes her body hungrily.
"Hey, cutie." The young cashier winks at her.
Katie scrunches her nose at him. "Um...where's your bathroom?"
The young cashier looks down at her suitcase then back at her tired face. "In the back, but I'd prefer you to stay up here with me."
Katie scrunches her face up in disgust. She hurries to the back of the gas station to the restrooms, her suitcase behind her. As she goes into the single room bathroom, she makes sure to lock the door behind her. Quickly, the blonde strips off her favorite sweater that is on top of her button up white shirt.
Katie opens her suitcase, seeing her neatly packed clothing. She takes out a heavy black sweater with neon green strips. Her favorite sweater isn't going to be thick enough to bare the cold. She quickly pulls the sweater over her white button up shirt, feelings it's weightiness. Katie straightens her ponytail so it is perfect again. She nods her head to herself in the mirror.
Everything is going to be alright. Katie puts her hands on her stomach, feeling a small bump. It has to be.
The pregnant young woman puts her sweater back into her suitcase, zipping it back up. She looks back up into the mirror as she takes a deep breath in and out.
Steal a few candy bars and then hit the road to Canada. No one will think to look for me there. Katie tears up at the thought, Not even Lane will think to look for me there!
Katie opens the bathroom door, holding the door open as she tugs the suitcase behind her. Once she gets to the isles of food, she stands on her tiptoes to see if the cashier was watching. She sneaks through the isle, grabbing a few candy bars and sticking them under her sweater. The sound of opening of the front doors to the gas station fills her with alarm.
"Hey, man! You're back." The young cashier exclaims from the cash register.
Okay, that's good enough. Katie assures herself, guilt eating at her. Two candy bars should do the trick, right?
The blonde walks down the isle with her head lowered, straightening herself up as she pulls the suitcase along. As she comes to the end of the isle, someone steps into the isle. Katie bumps into them, the two candy bars dropping to the floor. Panic fills her.
"Um..I'm s-sorry-" Katie looks up into their face.
The pregnant young woman's blood runs cold, her green eyes widening. Her heart begins to race in her chest. The shock overwhelms her, enabling her to speak.
In front of Katie stands the biggest crime lord in all of Washington state. His ocean blue eyes stare down at her darkly, his lips a pursed straight line. His towering height shadows over her. The infamous Lane West.
